This is a little twist on an old favorite, the Haymaker. Anyway, this
is my 3rd tourney, and i was going to wait until I got into the top 8 to
write one of these, but I got so close I decided to write one anyway.
Tournament Info
People: 53 or 55
Location: The Encounter, Allentown, Pennsylvania
Time: This was actually last week, the 29th of August, but I didn't get
around to typing this up until today
Prizes: 3-8th get $5 store credit, 2nd gets $10 s.c., 1st gets $20!!
Entry Fee: absolutly nothing!!
You play 4 rounds of Swiss,1 game per opponent 20 min time limit, then
the top 8 play best of 3 single elim. 50 min time limit
Note: Unfortunatly, this tourney allows Jap cards from any set (mainly
because they can sell Japs to little kids for $8-20), but I refuse to
pay that much, so there are no Jap cards in my deck.

2 Doduo
2 Dodrio (one of the BEST cards in the set!!! essential to Haymakers,
because it promotes advanced strategy, retreating. You wouldn't believe
how many games this card has won for me. Free retreat is the best thing
you can have. If you have free retreat, you don't have to worry about
confusion, poison does nothing to you, Enough of my ramblings on the
great DODRIO)

gonna help)

2 Potion (people say this isn't tournament worthy??!! Wins games if
used properly)
2 Full Heal (Same as above. Has won me 2 games in tourneys, and I've
only played 8 games)
3 Pluspower (read about it in the 3rd round)
2 Energy Retrievals (every multi color deck needs at least 2, especially
if u have a low energy count like me)

Note, the only person that gave my a name was the last guy, and I'm
sorry but I forgot it
Round 1 v fighting deck
My deck destroys fighting. This was a Machamp deck, from what i saw of
it. I start doduo with no other basics. He starts machop. I start
quick attacking while he evolves to Machoke. Double PlusPowered
Submission kills me, but also leaves him with 20 HP. I have a powered
up Scyther that kill his Machoke. I then proceed to annialate (sp)
sandshrews and sandslashes.
Round 2 v Raindance
Uh oh. A Raindance. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Fully powered
Pinsir kills
numerous Gyarados, Poliwhirls, and even an Evil Blastiose. Why did he
put an evil blastiose in??? The world will never know. Anyway, easy
win because of weakness.
Round 3 v I have no clue
What a matchup. Scyther v Meowth and I 2 Grass, 2 Psy, a DCE, and a
PlusPower in my hand. I play a grass energy, he removes it. OWCH!!
Pay
day fails, and hurts me for a whole ten damage. Another Grass comes out
and Swords Dance. He evolves to Persian, and bites for 20. Still no
bench for either of us. DCE and PlusPower Wins the game and I'm 3
and
0!!!!
Round 4 v Haymaker
Whoever this was was really good and also very nice. I thought I had an
easy win with Scyther v Hitmo, and I have a couple grass, 2 DCE's and a
PlusPower. Apparently he thought the same thing as he comp searched for
an Oak, Oaked, got a Buzz and a Scyther, Scooped up Hitmo, played buzz
as active, played a lightning on buzz and successfully paralyzed me.
Well, I get stupid and play a DCE on Scyther. He Super ER's me and fails
to paralyze. I play another Grass on a Pinsir. He removes it, and a
PlusPowered Thunderpunch gets heads and KO's Scyther. He kills my
Pinsir, a Doudou, a Dodrio, and PlusPowers a Hitmo to kill my last
Pokemon, a Kangaskhan.
Now I am anxioulsy waiting for the results. I got 3-1, and the
person
that beat me was 4-0, so I figured I'd probably 7th or 8th. The Judge
put the results on a table. I scan it. I see my name near the top.
YESSSSSS. I look again to see if I got 7th or 8th.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry about
that Pojo, but it was neccessary) I got NINTH place. 1 @%^$%^&%#

off!!!! That didn't make me very happy. I started at 16th with a
Venucenter. Then I got 11th with my Grass Psychic Fire Haymaker.
Today
I was hoping so much to make it to the top 8, and I got NINTH!!!!!!!!!!
(I think I'm gonna do the NOOO thing again)
