                                Around 15 Participants

Hey everybody, Sean here. This is my first deck report, so I hope you like it. After suffering a loss in the last tournament (you can read about it in Gary's Wildfire.dec report, March) I decided I was going to have to win one, and, well, you'll see what happens. The entrance fee was 3.00 per person, and I sighned up with my friend, Rudi. Anyway, here's the deck.

           Tuff Stuff:
POKEMON: 14
4 Hitmonchan
3 Scyther
4 Jigglypuff
3 Wigglytuff

ENERGY: 20
16 Fighting Energy
4 DCE

TRAINERS: 26
4 Bill
2 Prof. Oak
4 pluspower
2 gust of wind
2 scoop up
2 comp. search
3 energy retrieval
4 E.R.
3 S.E.R.

STRATEGY:
Well, first of all, the best thing about this deck (besides the awsome pokemon) is that all the weaknesses are covered for. For instance, Chan is weak to Psy, Wiggly is resistant. Wiggly's weak to fighting, Scyther is Resistant. Scyther's weak to fire, Fire is weak to energy removal, and my deck has plenty of it. The object of the deck is to use the powerful basics to stall for a Wigglytuff, then Do the Wave to victory. Scyther is great with free retreat, and Chan has a great 1st turn attack. Bills and Oaks help get basics for Wiggly, and Scoops get my gusted Chans or Status effected Pokemon out of the danger zone. Pluspowers help for needed K.O.s, and ER and SER slow my oppenent down. Energy retrieval is there because I play a low amount of energy for the costs in the deck. Gusts have saved me a number of times and help take out those squirtles before they become blastoises.
The matches started as 2 out of 3, then got weird in the second round, so I'll explain as I go along. So without further adieu, the tournament

ROUND 1: Me vs. little boy with Raindance?
Match 1: I have the ? after raindance because he had a bunch of water types, but I never saw a squirtle. This one was easy. I started with Scyther (In case he had a fighting resistor) and a benched Chan to his....Magikarp. He went first, attached a water energy and passed. I retreated Scyhter, brought in Chan, attached fighting energy, then a plus power and jabbed. WIN
Match 2: THat was unbelievably easy. This one took a bit longer, as he opened with Lapras to my Scyther. I won the flip, attached, and passed. He attached a water, and passed ( he was pretty inexperienced ). I drew a DCE and attached to scyther, and slashed. This went back and forth for a while, with him successfully poke balling three times when he had no bench. I eventualy KOed his final, energyless Gyarados for the win, and advanced to round two.

ROUND 2: This was a weird setup. Since there were apparently an uneven # of people, 3 people would play each other this round, in each of the brackets. The person with the best record advanced to the finals.
Match 1: Me vs. Kid with another Raindance.
He opened with a Lapras to my Hitmonchan. I went first, attached, and jabbed. He then attached and watergunned. I energy removeled and jabbed after attaching. He watergunned again, and I slapped down a third energy and S.P. 'd for a prize. He brought out an energyless articuno, so I attached DCE to jiggly, comped for Wiggly, evolved and oaked. I got a gust and brought out his squirtle and KO'd it with SP. I eventually took all six prizes for a win.
Match 2: This one went the same way, only he got a Blastoise mid game and pumped it up with 4 energy, and took my Chan down to 20 HP. But I unleashed 2 SERs on him and he eventually lost. I took all six prizes, him none.

ROUND 2 still.
Match 1: Me vs my best friend Rudi
Rudi and I have known each other for like, 12 years and are the best of friends, but our rivalry in the tournaments is strong. He was playtesting a completely new deck with Alakazam, chansey, and....... Persian. Yes, you heard right, Persian. It's actually a good deck, using defenders, persian's pounce attack, and Alakazam's Pokemon Power. The deck, however, had poor attacking basics, however, and was no match for my decks speed. I ripped through 3 of his abras with Chan and some Pluspowers, and when I had his Chansey, his last basic, down to 40 HP, he scooped it up, since he knew he would lose anyway. WIN
Match 2: This match was better, but he still never got an Alakazam into play. I tore through his Meowths with Chan, and finished up with Wiggly. WIN

FINALS: Me vs Levi
Match 1: Levi had lost to me the first round of the last tourney, and as it turns out, he was using a copy of my Chan/Clefable/Dragonair deck, with Lees instead of dragons. This match started badly for me, with no Scythers in sight for me. It started Chan vs Chan. I attached, jabbed. He attached, ER'd, jabbed. He Attached, ER'd, and jabbed again. he potioned, getting the edge, and eventually KOed my Chan. I sent out another Chan and KOed his. This went on and on until finally my Scyther appeared. It was all downhill for him from there, and I finished his Lee with my scyther.
Match 2: This was easy compared to that lat match. I started with Scyther and dominated his Chans and Lees. He stayed alive a bit with Potions, but I destroyed his energy, so he was never in a good attacking position. I gusted out two clefairys and KOed them in one hit with Chan. It was mosly Scyther, and I won.

I FINALLY WON A TOURNEY, YES!

I got 20 dollars store credit for my efforts, and bought 5 Base 2 boosters. With my luck with Base 2's inthe past ran out, and I got the following:
            Non -Holo Venomoth
Non -Holo Snorlax -Whoopee! ( sarcastic )
            Pokemon Breeder
            Beedrill  (my Fifth)
            Hitmonchan (my tenth)
I bought another with my money and got a Dragonair ( my fourth )
I then traded the Snorlax for a Mr. Mime, which is actually good.
So all in all, my packs sucked, but at least now I can gloat and brag about my Win.
