Dark Forces
The Newest Deck By Talon

Hi everyone.  This is my newest deck.  It won first prize at a tourney in
Tulsa.  Surprisingly, people with the worst decks made it to the finals.
They all lost to me, though.

The Deck:

Pokemon-
4 Hitmonchan
4 Movie Mewtwo
3 Mew
3 Aerodactyl
2 Scyther

Trainers -
4 SER
4 ER
4 Bill
3 Oak
3 Fossil
2 Scoop Up

Energy -
11 Psychic Energy
11 Fighting Energy
2 Double Colorless

I played at Top Deck Games in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, 3/11/00.  The
tourney was at 12:00, but me and my friend Raymond (SoulFusionz128@aol.com)
got there early, so we decided to play a game.

Practice Round!
Talon       VS       Raymond
Dark Forces          Haunted House (mono-psy)

The match started out with me having a Mewtwo, he having a Gastly.  He
couldn't find any energy.  I put down a psychic, he used energy removal.  I
place another psychic and energy absorb the last psychic he removed.  He
couldn't go, I attached a psychic and blasted for 40.  He got a energy and
licked without paralization, and I Psyburn for the win.

The real match started about 12:10, and I faced a kid with a mono-fire deck.

Talon        VS        Beginner
Dark Forces            "Charizard's Fire" (Mono-fire)

I started out with a Hitmonchan, Mew, and Scyther, and he started with a
Ponyta and a Magmar (base).  I put Hitmonchan out, he put out Magmar.  I
attached a fighting and jabbed, he attached a fire.  I energy removaled (for
no real purpose), attached another fighting, and jabbed.  He drew a
Charmander and attached a fire to it.  I attached a psychic and killed his
Magmar with Special Punch.  He sent out Ponyta and evolved it into Rapidash.
I Special Punch for 40.  He attaches another energy to Charmander.  I Energy
Removal it and Special Punch for the kill.  He sends out Charmander and
evolves it into Charmeleon.  I Special Punch.  He attaches a fire and does
Flamethrower.  I Special Punch for the kill.

Record: 1-0

The second round was against a kid with a mono-water deck.  He was older than
me, but new at the game, so I kinda had to help him.

Talon        VS        Josh
Dark Forces            Water Deck

I started this match with a Fossil, a Hitmonchan, a Mewtwo, 2 Psychics, and 2
Fightings.  I could power up either 'chan or Mewtwo, and I decided Mewtwo
would be best if he was playing Energy Removals.  I sent out Mewtwo and
attached an energy.  He had out an active Seel, and a benched Horsea and
Squirtle.  He did 10, and I drew a Aerodactyl.  I evolved my Fossil and
attached my second psychic.  He did 10 again, and I attached a fighting and
did 40.  He did another 10.  I killed him and he sent out Horsea, with no
energy.  I blasted him away with Psyburn.  He sent out Squirtle, with no
energy, and I Psyburned him away also.  So, that was the game.  When Josh
looked at his deck he found alll the energies near the bottom.  I offered to
play again, but he said no.

Record: 2-0

The next match was against a kid who thought he knew everything about
Pokemon, but really didn't.  He said he had a Haymaker, and it was really a
five-color deck, with Mr. Mimes, Hitmonchans, Electabuzzs, Scythers, Magmars
(base), Clefables (!), and more!

Talon        VS        Braggart
Dark Forces            Five-color "Haymaker"

The round started with me having a Mewtwo, him a Hitmonchan (YES!).  I went
first and attached an energy.  He went and attached a energy to a benched
Clefairy. I attached another energy.  He attached one to his benched
Electabuzz.  I attached a final energy to Mewtwo and Psyburn for the K.O.  He
sends out Electabuzz and can't go.  I bench a Hitmonchan, retreat Mewtwo, and
Jab for forty.  He attaches an electric and Thundershocks, 10 damage and no
effects.  I Jab for the kill.  He sends out Clefable (he evolved his 'Fairy)
and Metronomes my Special Punch for forty.  I Energy Remove Clefable, and Jab
for forty.  He attaches a energy and Metronomes for the kill.  I send out
another Hitmonchan and Jab for the knockout.  He sends out Mr. Mime.  I Jab
for 20.  He retreats Mime and sends out a Magmar.  He can't go (no energy).
I Special Punch for 40.  He attaches a energy, but can't go.  I kill him with
Special Punch.  He sends out Mime.  I kill Mime with Jab for the game.

Record: 3-0

FINALS

Hey! I made it to the finals!  Cool!  Well, onto the first of the three final
matches.

The finals are single elimination.

I get to play my friend in the finals.  He knows its me or him, and he's a
little nervous.

Talon        VS        Raymond
Dark Forces            Haunted House (mono-psy)

I started out with JUST a promo Mewtwo, and him JUST a Jynx.  I attached a
energy, and it was his turn.  He attached a energy and Doubleslapped for 20
damage.  I attach another energy.  He Doubleslapps for 40 damage.  I attach a
energy and Psyburn for the kill.  This game was almost exactly like our first
game, huh?  Spooky.

Record: 4-0

The next match was against another braggart.  He said his Rain Dance would
dominate.

Talon        VS        Braggart #2
Dark Forces            Rain Dance

The match started out with me having an active Hitmonchan, and a benched Mew
and Fossil.  He had a Squirtle, a Horsea, and a Magikarp, 'Karp (!) being
active.  I went first and Jabbed hit Magikarp.  He did 10 damage to me, and I
evolved Fossil into Aerodactyl, and Jabbed his 'Karp out of the water.  He
begged me to let him evolve his Squirtle.  He kept throwing offers like "Let
me evolve my Squirtle and I'll let you draw a prize!", but I said no.  I
killed his Squirtle and Horsea with Special Punch.  Game. Set. Match.  I win.

Record: 5-0

My last match till victory!!  Well, this kid was playing a VERY good
Grass/Psychic.

Talon        VS        Lucky Kid
Dark Forces            Grass/Psychic

I started out with a Mewtwo, he a Scyther.  I attached a Psychic, and he
attached a Double Colorless.  I attached a Psychic and energy removaled the
DBC.  He attached a grass and Swords Danced.  I attached a Psychic and
Psyburn for 40.  He attached
a grass and Sword Danced again.  I Psyburned for the tourney.

I ended up winning 1st place and got a Base Set II booster.  Cool, bad
prizes, but good tourney.

PROPS AND SLOPS

Props to Top Deck for having a good tourney.
Props to Raymond for not getting angry at me for winning.
Props to my dad for driving me and Raymond to Top Deck.
Props to my deck.

Slops to Top Deck for having sucky prizes (all I won was one booster).
Slops to Top Deck for having high prices (almost 8 bucks for a booster!).
Slops to myself for not bringing enough money for the arcade next door.

STRATEGY VS POPULAR DECKS

VS Haymaker
Match up weaknesses.  Put Mewtwo against Hitmonchan and Hitmonchan against
Electabuzz.

VS Rain Dance
Use Aerodactyl and Mew to send all thoughts of your opponent evolving back to
where they came from.

VS Sponge
Use the same strategy as you would with a Haymaker.

VS Mewtwo/Mime/Alakazam Stall
Prevent your opponent from getting out Alakazam with Aerodactyl/Mew, and
beatdown the basics with Hitmonchan and Mewtwo.

Top 10 Haymaker Cards (This is ALL my opinion! I don't want death threats
about it!!)

10. Hitmonlee - Not considered to be a true Haymaker card, but Stretch Kick
has possibilities.  20 to any benched? Not bad.

9. Tauros - Again, not a true Haymaker card, but if you get some damage on
him, he can be pretty dangerous.

8. Lapras - Water Gun and Confuse Ray are pretty good, but I wish he had a
better first attack, like Hitmonchan.  If he could dish out 20 like Chan,
he'd be immortal!

7. Mr. Mime - Rarely used in Haymakers, only used in Potpourri, but he still
could be good in Hay.  His Invisible Wall can hurt people with tough,
Hay-crushing Pokémon like Chansey.

6. Magmar (Fossil) - He is very good when it comes to status affects.  One
for 10, but it's like a mini-agility, and 2 for 20 with a chance of poison!
Good. . .

5. Jynx - This unused card is awesome!!!  Think about it.  Meditate first for
twenty, then for forty (total 60), then for 80 (total 140), and so on!  A
three turn kill for Charizard and Chansey!

4. Scyther - A resistance to fighting, 30 more damage for a grass, an all
colorless attack, what more could you ask for?

3. Electabuzz - VERY good card here.  Thundershock can hold them off for one
turn, then you can Thunderpunch for an auto 30, chance of 40!  Only drawback
is weakness to fighting, one of the most common cards out there.

2. Promo Mewtwo - This card should be broken.  It allows you to attach up to
3 energy cards by the end of your turn, and you can just use that energy to
fire out 40 damage!  He's also basically immune to ER and SER!

1. Hitmonchan - Then there's Chan. . . Jab for auto 20, 2 Fighting and a
colorless for 40, 70 HP, basic, THIS CARD IS AWESOME!!!!
