22 people
Hi pojo dudes and dudetts I haven't posted anything lately and I haven't
witnessed any action for some time. Today I went to my first tournament which
was the prerelease gym heroes tournament. There were 36 openings but only 22
showed up. It was cool for me because I didn't have to battle first so I
memorized the trainer's decks so I would know who to use against them. Okay
here is the deck.
4-hitmonchans
4-scythers
4-electrabuzzes
1-lickitung
13-pokemon
4-professor oak
4-energy search
4-energy removal
3-super energy removal
2-computer searches
2-itemfinders
1-pluspower
1-gustowind
1-scoop up
2-energy retriavals
24-trainers
8-fighting energy
7-electric energy
4-grass energy
4-double colorless energy
23-energy cards
13+24+23=60
The best thing about this tournament was that four of the winners were from
my block and the other winners were from the league I normally attend in
Moreno Valley. Now for the report. There were four rounds then the
championship battles.
Round 1=me vs. no name?
he is using a complete rainbow deck. Seriously I think this kid took sixty
cards from anywhere and put them together. He didn't even have the basics for
half of his evolution cards. Worse is he even stuck evolution cards w/out
basics on the bench and tried to use them. He started with two basics which
were a mankey benched and an active bellsprout. He wins the draw and attaches
a fire energy and deals no damage to my active scyther. I draw a fighting
energy and retreat scyther for a benched hitmonchan and jab. He drew a card
and tried to stick a base blastoise on his bench. I explained the rule about
basics and then he attaches a fighting to the bellsprout and passes. I still
don't get any fighting energies but it didn't matter. I jabbed for my prize.
It was an oak. He drew and attached a water energy to mankey and used scratch
for 10 damage. I drew and I really wanted to end it because the kid annoyed
me so I ended up oaking three times before I got my pluspower and that was
the game.
1-0
Round 2
me vs kid with a rainbow deck.
This kid was slightly more advanced because he had some of the corresponding
basics and some of the right energies. This however, was the fastest game I
remember playing. He had one basic, a fossil geodude. I got a
scyther,electrabuzz,hitmonchan,1 electric, 1 fighting energy, 1 grass energy
and a dce. He lost and I attached an energy and sword danced. He drew and
passed. Turn two and it was all over.
2-0
Round 3
me vs. hispanic kid with mono grass.
He benched fossil ekans and had an active grimer against my lone hitmonchan.
He lost the flip and I draw an oak. I had some junk cards so I attached a
fighting energy and oaked for a comp. search, an itemfinder, two energy
removals, a super e.r., and two professor oaks. Comp. search got me another
fighting and I jabbed for twenty. He drew and attached a grass energy and
right then he dropped his hand and I saw his dark muk he obviously wanted to
use. Thankfully I had already thought about how to kill the grimer so I
itemfinded with an oak and a fighting for a pluspower from my first hand. I
used it to k.o. grimer for my first prize. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the
battles only consisted of obtaining four prizes. He drew and passed with a
lone ekans. I drew a fighting energy and attached it and oaked. I got all
four scythers, a fighting, electric and grass energy. I jab and hhe draws. He
evolves to Dark Arbok and passes after benching two more grimers. I draw a
energy search and attach a fighting to hitmonchan. I k.o. arbok for my second
prize. He never gets any energy and evolves to dark muk. I k.o. his last two
pokemon taking my prizes.
3-0
Round 4
me vs. kid with shaky hands.
He was using a haymaker that could shift to stall against another haymaker.
He had a fossil gastly against my active scyther. I also had a benched
electrabuzz.
He went first and attached a psychic energy and paralyzed my syther. I had
nothing useful so I oaked and got some needed energy and a super energy
removal. I attached a leaf to scyther and passed. He drew and attached a
second psychic energy and evolved to fossil haunter and used nightmare. I
woke up and drew an electric energy. I attached a fighting to scyther and
took it off using super energy removal. I then used scyther's sword dance. He
drew and had no energy so he passed. I drew a dce and attached it. I used
slash for 60 but it FAILED!!! He drew and benched a jungle mr. mime. I again
used swords dance after attaching an electric to my benched buzz. He drew and
decided to attach an energy to his mime. I drew another oak and used it to
get another scyther, hitmonchan and some currently useless trainers. I
slashed for 60 and he flipped tails thank god only to get another haunter two
turns later. It took me five turns to finally kill the mime. We had about
thirty seconds left and he was losing with prizes 2-4 and I had at least five
cards left. He drew after I k.o.ed his haunter with an electrabuzz. He then
oaked and had two cards left. He slashed with scyther and then I drew a
pluspower. I used it with one of my scythers to do 40. He drew and had only
one card left. Someone said something about me only winning by default and I
turned to see who it was. By then it was my turn and I took my last prize by
slashing the injured scyther. I then glared at the person who said I could
only win by default.
4-0
Only one other kid had a perfect scour so far so I was already first or
second.
Round 5
me vs kid with flattop haircut.
This wasn't the championship match because there were other round 4 battles
still taking place. I was only battling because the kid needed his round four
match. Surprisingly I don't remember much except I won and I felt really bad
because he lost his chance at placing for boosters. Sorry kid. I didn't know
your record until later when my brother told me.
Round 6
me vs mark I think. He was from my usual league in Moreno Valley.
Championship game finally. I think I won the coin and it was my electrabuzz
with hitmonchan benched. He had scyther active with electrabuzz benched. I
drew an oak and didn't quite know what to do so I attached an electric to
buzz and thundershocked w/out paralysis. He energy removaled my electric
energy and gusted for hitmonchan. He attached a grass and danced. I drew and
had nothing so I passed. He drew a dce I guess because he attached one before
it went from deck to hand. He slashed for 60 and I was worried. I drew a
miracle. An oak. I had a comp. search so I ditched a couple of energies for a
scoop up. I replaced chan on the bench and oaked. I got everything I needed
and was able to k.o. a benched electrabuzz the following turn. He came up
fast later and we were tied at 3 prizes each with him having an active
scyther damaged against my electrabuzz also damaged with 30 h.p. remaining. I
had a scyther benched Whom was fully loaded and I was praying for a dce. I
drew a energy retriaval used it and ended up paralyzing the scyther. He took
my energy off and I was scared. I drew a dce luckily and retreated. I slashed
for the k.o. and won the championship.
6-0
