Some of you may know me, and some of you may not.  For those of you whom do
not know me, my name is Zach Froelich and  finished third at the STS in the
11-14 age division.  Today I attended my first DCI sanctioned tournament. 
Most of the decks I saw were Wigglytuff haymakers.  I decided to use a deck
based on all of the Hitmonchans and Promo Mewtwos.  Don't ask me why but this
is the deck I decided to use.

Today would be all about achieving the weakness/resistance match up.  The
format is 5 rounds of Swiss, with a 25-minute time limit. 

Round 1 vs. Alex Flores
He was using some sort of a Hitmonchan/Mewtwo/Ditto/Wigglytuff deck.  Like
mine only I use Scyther instead of Chan.  I start with my Promo Mewtwo
against his Jigglypuff.  I am able to power up on turn 2 for Psyburn, but I
decide to retreat and bring up my own puff.  We pound until he finally
faints.  I draw Oak as my prize.  That is good until he brings up chan with a
benched Promo Mewtwo and Rocket's Sneak Attacks my Oak away.  He then pops
the balloon.  I bring up Promo Mewtwo and kill.  He brings up Promo Mewtwo
and oaks.  He attaches an energy and kills.  I bring up puff then I lay down
a puff, ditto and computer search the rest of my hand away.  I get an Oak and
draw 7.  I am able to pound.  He lays down a benched Puff and gust kills a
Ditto.  I lay down tuff and oak.  I am able to kill that with tuff.  He
brings up chan and jads with a benched puff.  I item find a plus and kill. 
He sings for a couple of turns then lasses.  Finally I get a heads and that's
game.

Round 2 vs. Drew Smith
He has Buzz I have Ditto.  I go first and Rocket Sneak Attack his oak away. 
I lay down a double colorless and thunder punch for 40.  He paralyzes me but
I scoop up bring Scyther out, lay Ditto back down and oak.  I finally am able
to Computer Search for the Double Colorless and kill the buzz.

Round 3 vs. Alex Kane
He has Charmanders and I get second turn tuff.  I then Lass to find all
Lightning energy and a Poke Ball.  The Charmanders to not last long and I
bench him out.

I now go to get some food with one of my friends.  I then run into my parents
who say that they were on there way to take me home.  I tell them the
tournament is not over, but they do not seem to care.  Fortunately the
pairings have not been made yet and I do not loose DCI points.  Well, at
least there is only 2 more weeks until the STS qualifier.
