Roughly around 35 players
Well, the last time I submitted a deck report, it was a TR
Status effect.
This time I'm playing with an Anti-Hay deck. It's very effective against
Haymakers, which are probably 90 % of the deck types out there. This
tournament WAS DCI sanctioned....so it was alot harder than going to the
pokemon league. Well, onto the deck and the rounds.
Pokemon: 10
4: MP Mewtwo
When you get this card as your first basic with 2 psy energy
and a
computer search, you can have him pumped up by turn 2. Card's just a staple
in practically every psychic deck.
4: Magmar (Fossil)
Magmar brings a lot to your deck. Poison can really beat down
on your
opponent, and smokescreen can frustrating if your opponent can't flip a heads.
2: Ditto
This guy can be put in ANY deck, I would think, and if he is
in your
deck, it just makes your deck that much better!
Energy: 18
8: Fire
Need I comment further?
7: Psychic
See: Fire energy
3: Rainbow
This card is sooo useful! It allows you to run more than one
color in
your deck without worrying about getting the right energy. Shame that I only
have three, though.
Trainers: 32
4: Bill
Card advantage wins games
4: Scoop
Your opponent gusts out no energy Mewtwo. "Not a
problem!" you say.
4: Pluspower
Kill pokemon faster. Make your opponent madder. It's amazing
what ten
extra damage can do.
4: ER
Keep removing energy...what's so bad about that?
3: Item Finder
This card helps A LOT in the late game when you are just
about to make a
move...
3: Comp Search
Get the right card at the right time, and see what is in your
deck.
3: Oak
IMO, the best trainer, tied with Bill. This card can give you
the cards
you need, and also make your opponent worry about your next move. Needs some
skill to use correctly, though.
2: Energy Retrieval
Get back that lost energy that you need.
2: GOW
Hmm...Let's see...Gust for the Magikarp and then kill it...
1: NGR
Well, it's a decent way of getting back energy and pokemon,
and also
helps with not decking yourself.
Okay, now that I'm done with my cards and my card
explanations, I can
FINALLY move on to the rounds. Here we go!
Round 1-Me vs. Ryan Page
Ok, at M & W, they honk a horn to start off the rounds.
On this one, I
guess me and him started off without realizing that they hadn't blown the
horn. Well, for the pre-game, I would've won on the first turn by attaching 4
Pluspowers to Magmar to kill his only basic, a Krabby, but since the horn
didn't sound yet, we started over. This time I still won, with Mewtwo
overpowering his weak basics.
Record: 1-0
Round 2-Me vs. Gil Tamayo
Okay this round went fast. What I remember is that Mewtwo was
out the
whole game...and I killed off a Hitmonchan, then another, then another, then
another, then a Scyther, then a Magmar. Well, looks like 2 in a row for me!
:-)!
Record: 2-0
Round 3-Me vs. Matthew Sullivan
Ok, this round was pretty long because he was playing the
traditional
Magmar/Hitmonchan deck. Not to worry, though! This match went basically slow,
with me getting a REALLY crappy hand. I started out with Mewtwo, him Jiggly.
I killed the Jiggly with Magmar, and then he sent out Hitmon. By that time,
all he had out were 2 other scythers, me a fully pumped Mewtwo ready to go.
He did his damage, then I scooped up Magmar and sent out Mewtwo. From there,
he had trouble with energy because of SER and ER. I ended up killing him with
Mewtwo.
Record: 3-0
Round 4-Me vs. Caesar Ramirez
Alright, this is the semi-finals, and I was pretty nervous
about winning.
This guy was another Magmar/Hitmon. He came out early with Magmar poisoning
and screening, but, to my relief, Mewtwo came out and kicked some major
heinie! I killed off 2 Magmars, 2 Hitmons, and a Scyther before Mewtwo
finally died. Then Magmar came out and finished off his last Scyther.
Record: 4-0
Round 5-Me vs. Sterling
This was the game for the finals. Well, all I remember about
this match
was that I couldn't draw any energy, and I finally just forfeited when he was
up, 2 to 5, because I counted all the energy in my discard pile, and it was
all there. Dang. I really hoped to win the tournament. Maybe next time.
Record: 4-1
Well, my winnings were: A Comp Search, a Lass, two Base
boosters, and a
Rocket booster. In those my rares were: A Holo Here comes Team Rocket!, a
Charizard, and an Electrode. Well, time for props and slops.
Props...
...to my deck for kicking heinie in the tournament.
...to the cards I got afterwards...Charizard will be trade bait...HAHA!!!!!
Slops...
...to Sterling because he was a major butt to me after he won.
Well, that wraps it up for my Killer Deck report!
