Hi pojo! Boy am I on a roll! Sorry about that first draft of my
duck damage
report. (silly me, forgot slops and props and E-mail too.) I rewrote that
for you though. So, this one is about today (Friday)'s league night at
regal
hobbies, in the side street near Jumbo sports in Clive, IA. Last time I
used
a Fighting-Water deck, but today i used a pure psychic deck, which was hard
at times. But, I still managed to win every game (Winning streak: 17
wins!)
and earn myself 140 points. Unlike on wednesday, there were 40 people
there
instead of 15 (attendance is always better on Friday.) so there were more
people to play.
Super Swappy:
4 Slowpoke (Needed for evolution, and useful for getting GOWs
back when
facing a stupid colorless deck.)
3 Slowbro (The deck focuses around him. Cheap
version of Alakazam with
the swap, and you can put more in cause he's a stage 1. Also useful for
the
paralysis.)
4 Gastly (Paralysis. Great for stall. and
when the paralysis fails,
you can transfer the damage dealt to Slowbro. I'll abbreviate that later
by
saying YCTTDTS.)
3 Haunter (Transperancey and sleep. 75% chance
each turn of escaping
attack. And during that 25%, YCTTDTS.)
4 Mr. Mime (Blocks most damage, and whenever something
hurts him, you
have a guaranteed turn to use the YCTTDTS before mime keels over.)
20 Psychic Energy (dosen't need too many because there
are no costs
above 2.)
4 Pokemon Center (don't put energy on slowbro, and use
one. Easy
healing!)
3 Mr. Fuji (When there's too much damage to transfer to
one slowbro,
Fuji him back and lose no energy. Also, when running out of cards, fuji
can
buy you a lot of extra turns.)
4 Energy Removal (Every deck needs em)
3 Gust of Wind (see above)
3 Pokemon Trader (see above)
2 Bill (see above)
2 Energy retrieval (see above)
Round 1 - Zap!
Fun. This guy had a zap deck, but he took out most of the electric but
forgot to change the energy ratios. I gust out his Mewtwo, helpless for
lack
of Psy energy, and slam it with mime. Then, his only pokemon left, a
voltorb, is 2 turn meat for my slowbro.
Record: 1-0 Win by lack of basic
Round 2 - Overgrowth
I got to play against all of the Base theme decks tonight, with challenge
rounds in between. This guy was easy, and my haunter, which i conveniently
got on turn two with a pokemon trader, absorbed most damage while my Slowbro
found a home for it until i found a Pkemon center. Haunter made short work
of Magikarp, Oddish, Bulbasaur, Goldeen, and Magikarp in that order. Then,
Mr. Mime took care of his Gyrados. No biggie.
Record: 2-0 Win by Prizes
Round 3 - Challenge Potpourri
Owie. This guy gets out his Lickitung first and paralyzes. I just
gust the
lickitung back and try to use removals to keep him from retreating with the
hitmon chan i put there. Hitmon didn't last long (and i failed to feel
sympathy) so, out comes lickitung. My prize card was a gust of wind,
though,
and ponyta came out and bit the dust. Then, my haunter managed to stall
the
guy, (him and 2 more gusts :) ) until that Oak-and-Bill-happy guy ran out
o
cards.
Record: 3-0 Win by lack of draw pile
Round 4 - Brushfire
Not as easy as the other theme decks, but still short work. My brain took
a
nap while my Mr. Mime took care of his three scythers, but I woke up when
Mime took a beating from Pinsir. Gastly goes out, paralyzes, evolves, and
takes out the Pinsir and two ponyta for the win.
Record: 4-0 Win by Prizes
Round 5 - Challenge Colorless
Ouchie. I took a beating, but my gust saved me yet again. This time,
though, i had to use my slowpoke's scavenge to get them back again. At
least
this guy was playing part psychic with no ghost. At the beginning, he used
chansey with scrunch every time (moot point. i have no over 30
attacks) It
took me a while, but i took out 3 Abras, 2 Drowzees, and 1 Mr. Mime when I
gusted them out. Slowbro took care of the Abras in one turn each and the
Drowzees in two, with paralysis so they couldn't retreat, and Haunter took
out Mime
Record: 5-0 Win by Prizes
Round 6 - Blackout
A little vacation from the colorless deck. Very simple, since his 2
hitmonchans and 3 machops were weak against psychic, Mr. Mime must have had
fun with them. His Golduck, which was his last Pokemon, delayed the
inevitable for a while, but i Ko'd him with Haunter. Good night!
Record: 6-0 Win by prizes
The only thig i learned was to NEVER MAKE A PSYCHIC DECK WITHOUT COLORLESS!!!
It was really hard during round five, but the fun thing was winning, defying
the odds, and coming out on top. Hey, and I'm entering a tournament at
mayhem tomorrow, so just wait until my next one comes.
Props to Regal for hosting it
Props to the Brushfire kid for giving me a rest
Props to the potpurri and colorless guys for giving my deck some exercise.
Props to my brother for joining league and netting me 10 extra points.
Slops to Me for defying the gods of colorless
Slops to the two hour time limit
Slops to WotC for giving me a Haunter in a bosster right when i needed it.
Slops to Energy retrieval for not showing up.
