Hi, this tourney was held at New World Comics and Games on January 9th, and
was a
Pokemon League tourney (Non-DCI Sanctioned, but we'll get there soon).
Deck List-
Energy:
Electric Energy: 15
Fighting Energy: 14
Double Colorless: 2
Trainers:
Plus Power- 1
Potion- 2
Super Potion- 2
Bill- 1
Energy Retrieval - 1
Prof. Oak- 1
Switch- 1
Energy Removal- 3
Pokemon:
Electric:
Voltorb: 2
Electrode (Base): 1
Zapdos- 2 (One Base, 1 Fossil)
Electabuzz(Movie): 1
Fighting:
Hitmonlee:1
Colorless:
Dratini: 4
Dragonair: 3
Dragonite: 2
Kangaskan: 1
As you can see, this deck's strong-points obviously aren't in fighting pokemon,
but in
Colorless/Electric types. Dragonite is the big bad boy of the deck, which I use
to take out
those pesky Hitmonchan decks, and Dragonair is the better half which destroys
those
Mewtwo Barrier decks with Hyper Beam (and with Energy Removal).
This was a Pokemon League tourney with double elimination.
Round 1: vs. a "MulliganMew" or so he called. ^_^
This kid was playing a stall-deck which was easily destroyed with Energy Removal
and
Dragonair. I had a good time beating him as he always bragged before hand about
how
invincible his deck was, which lost in 3 turns. ^_^
Round 2: vs. a Wigglytuff Deck
This kid...er..guy had an annoying Wigglytuff/Gengar deck. I was able to get
Hitmonlee out,
along with Electrode who I buzzapped onto Hitmonlee, and started kicking the
'tuffs and then
brought out a fully charged up Zapdos for the big boy, Gengar. He lost due to
prizes.
Round 3: vs. a Haymaker
Yes, that's right, a Haymaker! I really made "Hay" out of this deck
with my fav. (or one of
my favorites) card, Dragonite. I got BOTH of them out, and started destroying
his
Hitmonchans, Electabuzzes (with 'lee), and Scythers (Dragonair with Hyper Beam).
I
eventually beat him because of lack of basic, but we had to have a rematch
because he
"claimed" that there was a Hitmonchan clearly on his bench. This
newbie was destroyed by
the wrath of Homer's deck when I pounded his Hitmonchan to death with Dratini
and my
potions. ^_^
Round 4: Finals, vs. a Fire/Electric deck
I disliked this kid's mom, mainly because she tryed to run off with my silver
version, and
because she tryed to take something from my book. :P I lost because of Kangaskan,
who
died after a few rounds of fetching, and my Dratini, who never got the chance to
evolve
thanks to my eyes. Oh well.
Round 5: Loser's Bracket, against the same Wigglydeck
I beat him again, with Electabuzz against Gastlys(2). Pretty easy round.
Round 6: Loser's Bracket, against the same Haymaker
I had to go mid-match, but I really don't know where it would have gone from
there since we
were both at a draw.
Now for SLOPS AND PROPS!
Props to Frank, the pokemon league gym leader, who gave my brother 3 movie
promos to
complete his set.
Props to a kid (who I forgot his name) for coming back to play me in a
non-tourney match,
and then talk about Silver and Gold again (Surprisingly, he was the only person
there who
knew about as much as I do about Red/Blue)
Props to Frank again, for promising a 9-card Neo set to the person who get's to
run the
tourney next week, which happened to be me. ^_^
Slops to a kid who "Insisted" that there was a mist stone.
Slops to Frank for forgetting to bring his stamp so I could earn my 1,500 some
odd points
(He's missed it like 4 weeks in a row).
Slops to the kid who played me against a Haymaker, who accused me of cheating.
Well, that's it for now. I'll e-mail you guys in another week or so telling how
I did. ^_^
