On Saturday, Jan. 14, 2000, I first participated in the Pokémon League.
They were already on their 18th week! It was in Seattle, WA, at Borders
Books. It wasn't a VERY big turnout, I counted only about 16 people there.
My score at the end was 4-0. Not bad. Here is my deck:

      4 Fossil Gastly
      3 Abra
      2 Pikachu
      2 Jungle Pikachu

      1 Mr. Mime
      1 Mewtwo
   7 1st Stage:
      2 Haunter
      1 Fossil Haunter
      2 Kadabra
      1 Raichu
      1 Jolteon
   3 2nd Stage:
      2 Gengar
      1 Alakazam

4 Trainers:
      1 Super Energy Removal
      2 Bill
      1 Professor Oak

29 Energy:
      16 Psychic Energy
      12 Electric Energy
      1 Double Colorless Energy

Here is how my deck preformed:

1st Battle: Me vs. Weird deck

OK, first thing's first...this kids deck had 60 cards, but about 5 were
energys, and he had about every type Pokémon, with no trainers. He was only
about 6, and I hate to beat little kids that dont know how to build a deck,
but a win is a win. His first hand, he got 7 Pokémon with no energy, while I
got 2 Eevees, a Jolteon, 3 Lightning energys, and a Raichu... excellent
hand. I sent out Eevee, put a E on him, and then the kid drew another
Pokémon. So, it kept going like that until I had 3 E on Jolteon, and started
wiping out his Pokémon with Pin Missle, 1 by 1. It was sad, really. So I
told the kid how to build a good deck. Oh, well.

RECORD: 1-0

2nd Battle: Me vs. Articuno Crazy deck

This kid really liked Articuno. He had 4 Holo, and 4 Non-Holo Articuno.
(Is that legal in the rulebook?) He even showed me. This is a really short
game, so I will explain it in detail. Both of us had 1 Basic Pokémon. I had
a Jungle Pikachu, he had a Squirtle. I went first. I put an E on Pikachu.
His turn: he put a W on Squirle, and did Bubble, and flipped a tails. 10
Damage. My turn. I put another E on Pikachu and did spark. It was all over
because he had no basics.

RECORD: 2-0

3rd Battle: Me vs. 7 year old: Fighting Deck

Here we go. He got 1 pokemon in his first hand, Machop, "This will be
over fast..." I said to myself. Machop is no match for my...DUM DUM
DAHHHHH...Gastly!! I put P on gastly and lick, 20 dam. and he was parlz.
Next turn he put a Fighting energy on Machop, since he was parlz, he
couldn't do anything. Next turn, I put my brand-new PlusPower (You get 1
after 100 pts.) on Gastly and lick. He had no bech, so I won.

RECORD: 3-0

4th, and last battle: Me vs. 8 year old: Fighting/Fire deck

This deck seemed awfully familiar...and then I figured out it was the
starter set. This was REALLY quick. I went first. He put down 1 Pokémon, a
Diglett. I sent out Eevee, slapped down a DCL, used Quick Attack, and
flipped a heads. One of the quickest games I've ever played.

Final Record: 4-0
