THE NEW, IMPROVED MASTER OF DESTRUCTION

Well, I've been studying for finals for a few weeks, but I'm back, and ready
to give the people who read my reports a few minutes of Poke-Pleasure (Pardon
the Pun). I've decided that I'm going to use the name Master of Destruction
for all of my decks, and that I will use two type of pokemon each week, each
week being different. This week, I uses Pidgeot and Vileplume. Many people
overlook them, but Heal can be very good to use and a Whirlwind can keep
Blastoise out of play for two turns. Without any further ado, here's the
deck......

Master of Destruction

Pokemon: 20

3 Pidgey        Sets up Pidgeotto and Pidgeot
2 Pidgeotto     For some attacks and Pidgeot
2 Pidgeot       Whirlwind all of your troubles away

3 Oddish        For Gloom and Vileplume
2 Gloom     Confuse is GREAT and Vileplume
2 Vileplume     Heal, Heal, Heal...oh, yeah, and 120 possible damage

4 Scyther       For quick damage
2 Pinsir            Good damage dealer, good HP

20 Energy

18 Grass Energy
2 DCE

20 Trainers

3 Computer Search   Gets me what I want, when I want
3 Breeder           Sets up the Stage 2's on turn two
1 Mr. Fuji          I love "stealing" prizes by Fujiing
1 Scoop Up          See Mr. Fuji explanation
2 Bill              Good for getting Cards
2 Impostor Oak      When Pidgeot sends Blastoise back to hand, kiss it bye-bye
3 ER's              Takes away energy, but I lack the energy to spare for SER
2 Switch            Cures Gloom's Confusion
3 GoW               Easy kills ;-) hehe

Here are the strategies for using against other common decks:

Raindance: Just build up a Vileplume and use Petal Dance and Heal to crush
the puny Blastoises and Water Pokemon with weakness. When a Blastoise
appears, GoW it out and use Pidgeot to send it back into your opponents hand.
Impostor Oak makes the Big Bad Blastoise go Bye-Bye. Scyther and Pinsir can
work wonders, with Heal curing them.

Haymaker: Trouble!!! Use Scyther and Pinsir a lot. Use Vileplume when you get
him out, and get him out fast. If you lose Scyther and Pinsir and don't have
any Stage 2's, kiss your win goodbye.

Damage Swap: They Swap, you Heal. Other than that, use same strategy as
Raindance.

Stall: I used to play these a lot, so I know how to beat them. ER the energy,
kill ASAP. Very simple, lots of fun.

The tournaments are getting smaller at best comics. This week, 8 people
showed up. Regular tournament rules, winners move on, losers leave. Prize was
a $15.00 gift certificate. Not great, but for a $3.00 entry fee, I'll take it.

Round 1: VS. David Samuels with Raindance

He won the previous week's tournament, so I was dying to get a piece of him,
see how good he really was. His deck was solid, but he didn't get the pulls
he needed. He did get one Blastoise, but my Pidgeot strategy got it away
fast. Vileplume, Scyther and Pinsir wreaked havoc with weakness, and I won
with 4 prizes left.

WIN 1-0

Round 2: VS. John Alexander with Haymaker

Three people played Haymaker, and I lucked out by getting the bad one. He had
every color in his deck, and never got any energy. I would have liked a
bigger challenge, but I'll take a win in any shape or form. Scyther kicked
some serious butt, and I coasted to a victory with 5 prizes left. I later
helped him narrow his deck down into a decent Magmar-Hitmonchan deck.

WIN 2-0

Round 3: VS. Katherine Marks with Stall

She was a great opponent, and played with skill. It was a stall deck for her,
with Chansey, Moltres and MewTwo. Unfortunatly for her, I played that for a
while and new all of its weaknesses. I uses Vileplume a lot, and Pidgeot sent
two Chanseys back to the deck. But in the end, it was Pinsir, taking out two
energy-less MewTwos for the lucky win with 8 cards left.

WIN 3-0

I won and I am back on top!! Woo-hoo!! I am thinking of trying a
Kabutops/Omastar deck soon, but who knows, this deck is pretty good. Good
luck to all who try it, and all who don't.

Props.............

To all of my opponents, for being good losers ;-)
To all of the people who post on PoJo
To PoJo, for being such a good site.
