----------------
After standing in line for a while , I decided to play some people around
me. While I was worried about metagaming, most people were in the 15 and
over division, I was not. I received my appointment card and reported to the
tedious Prep and Deck Check area, then reported to Area 1 of the tournament.
Game 1 against Hmong Guy with No Blastoise(?) water deck.
I felt uneasy being the only girl there and he could tell. He wanted to make
sure the game ended fast. In my opening hand I got a jiggly, Gastly, bill,
Search and energy. He started with an Articuno. He attached energy and
passed. I draw a ER! I use that and lick w/ paralyzation. He then floods the
bench(no pun intended) with wimpy water pokie's with 2 Clefairy. I draw a
Wiggly and search for an oak. I fill the bench and proceed to KO every
pokemon he has until the last prize when he gives up.
1-0
Game 2 against weird guy with a Wiggly deck.
While this match is fuzzy, I remember the utter horror of throwing all
MY pokie's at him while he sits back and "Wave's" goodbye. Much
like my 1st round only I'm get ripped to shreds. This thing was single
elimination so I ran back to enter again. When I got there, the only slips
left were the 15 and up. So the girl said "Well. today you get to be
15" LOL.
1-1
Game 3 against Hmong Guy with terrible ghost deck.
I began this match with a Gastly, search, jiggly, Mewtwo, oak energy. I put
down Gastly since this was a new hand, we had to shuffle again because we
started too soon. :( He also had Gastly out. He licked w/o paralyzing. I
attached energy to jiggly and switched. He evolved to Base Haunter and
Hypnotized me. I woke, searched for Wiggly, oaked, got another oak and DCE.
Oaked again and waved with a full bench. He had nay another basic. At first
he just kinda stared like he was out in space. Then he laughed. And he left.
I sat for 18 minutes waiting to go on.
2-1
Game 4 against ? with Hay.
While shuffling he proceeded to flip his coin AND call it. I told him if
he flipped , I call it. He flipped and sure enough, the dumb thing went
against me. He had Scyther and Hitmonchan, I had mewtwo and ditto. He
had no energy so I proceeded to Psyburn him to death.
3-1
Between Battles: After completing round two, you get 2 booster packs from
Base 2. The girl began to warn everyone that it was bad luck to open
the packs before going into the 3rd round. I didn't listen and I got a
Venusaur holo and a Pidgeot holo.
Game 5 against Guy with WigglyTung
This game was close. I proceeded to plow through his Wigglies with
my own. His only advantage were those annoying Lickitungs. The game came
down to the wire. I had out a Jiggly, him Wiggly. I searched for a Wiggly,
but none were left in my deck. I grabbed a SER and removed his DCE and
a nother energy. He drew his second to last card and put my jiggly to sleep.
I did not wake up. He drew his last card and attached a DCE!!!! I almost
screamed. He drew his last prize and received his invitation to the Queen
Mary in LA.
3-2
We drove down to San Francisco and spent the rest of the evening there. We
drove back and I trained my deck on my brother(who received his
invitation) >:(
Game 6 against Kid with 3-color deck.
My ditto got a chance to be a Nintendo Power Mewtwo! I used Telekinesis on
his Energy less pokie's and at on point used Thunderbolt on Zapdos. After
destroying all his other Pokemon, My Gengar came out and proceeded to
finish off the lone Mewtwo.
4-2
Game 7 against "Brock" with Haymaker.
This guy was making me sick. He called himself Brock yet he played a
Haymaker. As we proceeded to sit he cockily said that his deck "
was a Haymaker with a surprising twist". Mr. Mime is hardly a twist.
This game proved that if you're going to play with a deck you
copied from a good player , at least pretend you know what to do with the
deck. He made small mistakes and even his little twist did not affect as
I licked it twice for a KO. At the end of the match, the Gym Leader for
Area 2 came over and was surprised to see that the opponent had
neglected to take a prize. "She beat my Brock Deck" he whined at
the leader. The leader responded simply, " Yep she did and it looks
like she must be really good since she womped you pretty bad."
5-2
Game 8 against Red-Head with a Wiggly.
He , too was pretty confidant that he would be victorious and I was even
doubting myself. But it eventually came down to who had better trained
their Wiggly. I got all his army men and got that invitation. HOORAY!
6-2
Game 9 against Tim the Terrible with another Wiggly (as archetypes are
easier to build than thinking on your on and mine is NOT an archetype.)
I hated this guy. He bragged and whimpered and was cocky. He got out Wiggly
and proceeded to take out my whole team and laughed when he finally got
Haunter(I HATE that) >:(
6-3
Well, I didn't get a shirt or a cap, but I did get an invitation. Hehe.
