My first tournament report. Heh heh...

The point of the deck is partial weenie Haymaker, until you can get
Lugia out and whomp all over everything...
I attentend two tournies on the Saturday of June 17th, 2000. They go in
order of events. The first was at Zany Brainy. 17 people were playing ,
but there were a lot of adults talking about the game.
Battle 1 - - -
Nicholas - grass/water/fire (?)
At first I didn't understand what the point of the deck was. And I still
honestly don't. It looked like he plopped it together in 5 minutes.
He starts the battle with a lone Scyther. I have a lone base Pikachu. He
Swords Dances. I pull up my Lugia on my second turn. (!) He kills the
Pika with a Double Colorless. I charge up my Lugia while Scyther does 30
to it. Elemental Blast. No benched.
1-0-0
After this I stood in line for five minutes while little kids signed up.
The Nicholas kid then kept trying to trade me a promo non-holo Mew.
Which I already had 6 of. I get a base Poliwhirl from him for a dark
Charmeleon, cuz I need it for my Poliwrath(s). After trading, I go over
and buy 2 $4 base 1 booster. I pull a SER and a holo Magneton. YEAH! I
haven't has one of those since I first started collecting.
Battle 2 - - -
John with mono-grass "Powerstall".
We talked a lot about different things while we were playing. He was
really a cool guy.
I get my Lugia out on the second turn again. He kills my Magmar. Slash
for 60, kill Neo Pika. Kill Scyther. Challenge! Kill Pinsir. He plays 3
Chanseys from the Challenge! I have both of my Lugias up now too. He
Double edges twice and kills myfirst Lugia. we stall for a while so both
of us can help our suffering benches. he kills neo Magmar. Kill Chansey.
more stalling... tied prizes, 1 to 1. but I ran out of energies. he
kills my base Magmar for the win.

The first tourny ended and I picked up my Pluspower and promo non-holo
Mew from the gym leader. 7 Mews now.
I spent the next half hour in the Gateway computers place trying to get
their internet to work, and talking to a kid I met at Zany. He was
pretty cool. My mom then began to drive us home. I mentioned that there
was another tourny at Hastur Hobbies, around the corner. We drove down
the street, but couldn't find it. My mom looked to her left for just a
second and spotted it out of the corner of her eye. We quickly pulled in
and we entered for our second tournament. Although it started at 2 and
it was only noon, we went and played before it started.

Linda - Rocket series Fire deck
I killed off the Charmander and Ponyta with Charmaeleon and Magmar.
quick game.

Battle 4 - - -
Linda - rematch
I challenged he again, because most of the kids were tiny annoying
elementary ones.
I won again with two Magmars and a Charmander.
Battle 5 - - -
Ryan - grass/psychic
This kid packed quite a punch from his size. He had some gym2 Mewtwos
and Scythers in the deck, but they didn't get much action.

After Gym Leader Michele announced some stuff she said that there would
be no Japanese cards in the tournament.
So I quickly ripped and pulled at this deck in order to make it complete
in time. I kicked out the Lugias and Pikachu for Electabuzzes and other
trainers. I guess it's now a fire/electric Haymaker. I swore that I'd
never play one of these aweful things, but now I think I might change my
opinion of them. oh well...
The entry fee was $3, in order to pay for the prizes.
8 players total. 3 matches for each person.
Battle 6 - - -
I start against a guy with a mono-grass Wiggly deck (?)
it was down to the bone for the whole battle. he kept killing off my
guys with Pinsir's Gillotine. he ended with me killing a Pinsir and he
bringing up a very damaged Wiggly. he continued to Lullaby it, but I'd
wake up constantly. I finally killed it with a smog.

Battle 7 - - -
I don't know this guy's name, but I talk to him a lot. Sorry if you're
ready this... (=^-^=)
He played a grass deck with Venusaur and Clafable.
I accidently didn't take notes... heh heh

Battle 8 - - -
Last one. I made it to the finals. Both I and my opponent were 2-0-0 so
far.
Casey with old Potporri. (!!!WOW!!!)
He said he had all 7 types in the deck, but only 4 types of energies. He
stepped all over my with Electabuzz, Rapidash, and Ditto.

I ended up tied for second place. I and Chase flipped a coin to see who
won. Flip, he calls tails, it lands heads. WHOPPEE!!! I chose a box of
heavy-duty sleeves as my prize. He was mad that I took them, cuz he
really wanted them.
That was the end of my tournie, but still more stuff happened. I took
the Coach test while everyone was playing multi-player Magic. I passed
with 100%. Michele said that later at four she was having a Gym Leader
class. I attended that and now I, Linda, and Chase are all certified
Assistant Gym Leaders. I start on Monday. If I come a lot Michele said
she's get us those sweet yellow shirts that Leaders wear!!
