I was Playing at the Wizards of the Coast TCG tour in Dallas, Texas. It was
at Valley View Center Mall On June 17th, with god knows how many kids . I
played a few warmup matches, played in the tournament, then played a few
after up in the league zone.
Mewtwo's Own Tuffness:
4 Movie Promo Mewtwo's
3 Jigglypuff(jungle)
2 Wigglytuff
3 Scyther
2 Kangaskahn
Trainers:
3 SER
3 ER
3 Comp. Searches
1 Prof. Oak
4 Bill
2 Gambler
1 Item finder
3 Potions
4 Gust of winds
2 Plus Powers
Energy:
18 Psychic
2 DCE
1st Warmup vs. Quick Attacking Kid
He was using a deck designed for quick charge up, mostly one energy attack
Pokemon.Good hand with Mewtwo, Comp. Search, 4 Psy energies and ER. I sent
out Mewtwo and he started out with Rattata he put out 2 Digglets and one
Machop.
I attached energy comp. searched and threw away 2 psy the absorbed em back.
It was easy once I knocked out Rattata, and mewtwo became a one hit wonder.
1-0
2nd warmup vs. White Trash Haymaker
This was one of the most screwed haymakers I've ever seen, he had very few
haymaker worthy cards in it. The funny thing was he had a lot of good
haymaker cards in his collection he could add but he did'nt. Another great
hand Mewtwo, Scyther, 3 psy enrgy, 1 DCE and prof. Oak. I started with my
favorite.... Mewtwo While he started with Rhyhorn. he went first and didn't
get heads using leer. So, I attached energy, oaked and absorbed and Ryhorn
was gone in 2 turns all he had to fight with was uncharged Hitmonchan,
uncharged Machop, and all he got to do with scyther was one swords dance then
it was over for him. 2-0 in warm ups.
1st round vs. Haymaker Variant
He had a pretty good deck that I thought I could lose to. I got the lucky
draw again with Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, DCE, 2 Psy and 2 ER's. He started
with chancey and put another one on the bench with scyther. he tried to
charge up every pokemon he had but I wouldn't let him because I got real
lucky with the SER's and ER's and filled my bench and took down his
unchargable Scythers, Chanceys and Hitmonchan with Wigglytuff.
I didn't take any damage that battle and I was pretty happy. 1-0 in
Tournament play.
2nd round vs. Haymaker
By now I felt like I could beat anybody because of earlier battles, but luck
always has its way of changing. Got a bad hand with 2 Mewtwo, 2 Scyther,
Jigglypuff , DCE and Item finder. He started with Lickitung and Hitmonchan
on the bench, I started with Jigglypuff I filled my bench with the
Scythers
and Mewtwos. I prayed for more energy and Wigglytuff but they never came I
Comp. Searched for Wigglytuff but it wasn't there so I looked for an Oak but
he was in my prizes too, so I got KO after KO. And lost because of bad
drawing ratio. So my dreams of L.A. were dashed in a terrible defeat so, I
shook his hand and walked out then looked at the bottom cards in my deck and
saw 19 energy mixed in with the bottom 35 cards. Also turns out the guy was
from New Jersey, now thats commitment. 1-1 in tournament play.
I decided to go upstairs to the league zone and play some other unfotunate
kids who had lost too.
1st after battle vs. Plant and Psy deck(Energy trans deck with a few Promo
Mewtwo)
For such a good deck I'm surprised he lost in the 1st round. But why couldn't
this battle have been the second round battle for me. Good hand with 2
Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, 3 Psy energy and ER. He started with Scyther and had
Pinsir on the bench. I went first and bye the time I KO'd him I had 60
damage he sent out Pinsir with an energy it looked like next turn i would
lose Mewtwo if he had another energy I drew Prof. Oak and used plus power
then Comp. searched for the other Plus Powerfound it and one with a Super
beefed up Psyburn. 3-0 out of tournament play.
2nd after battle vs. Mewtwo deck
He had 4 of every american Mewtwo in his deck with a few Chancey's and
Kangaskahn's. Ok hand with Scyther, DCE, 3 Psy energies, Bill, and SER. He
sent out base Mewtwo and played another on the bench. I went first again and
drew promo Mewtwo and let Scyther take damage while I charged up Mewtwo, I
knew as long as he didn't send out Chancey or Kangaskahn with a charged up
Mewtwo I had this game in the bag. I retreated Scyther and sent out Mewtwo
and sure enough he couldn't get out either resistant bad guys to aid him and
I won by KOing 6 of his Mewtwos in lightning fast record. 4-0 out of
tournament play.
