killeen, texas
peter piper pizza
5-11-00, i think
about 40 people were there
this was a 5 round tournament where the top 16 got into the finals
here is my deck, at least what i remember:
4 jigglypuff
3( or was it 4) wigglytuff
3 magmar
4 scyther
2 ditto
1 challenge
3 bill
3 oak
4 removal
2 super removal
3 computer search
2 item finder
2 gust of wind
3 plus power
2 scoop up
2 garbage run
4 double colorless
13 fire energies
alright, this was written about 3 weeks after the tournie, so i have changed
my deck a lot and not all the cards i listed in the deck are completely
accurate, although they are for the most part.
round 1: me vs howard adkins, ranked like # 57 in the world and 4 in texas,
friend of mine
alright, this was not good. first round match up against like the best person
in killeen, although he was my friend here at the tournaments and i knew his
deck well. it ran 4 magmar, 4 scyther, 4 mewtwo, etc. anyway, my deck got of
to a pitifully slow start, and his removals kept me at bay while he slowly
but surely wore my guys down. wiggly did come in, but was removaled after i
got in a few hits. anyway, even though i did keep his mewtwos at bay somewhat
with jiggly and wiggly, he would always gust in something different. i had
energy problems and was on the deffense almost the entire game, although i
did take like 4 prizes. howard, good game, but he won.
RECORD: 0-1
round two: me vs james spaulding, i think, with older raindance( you dont see
a lot of those anymore)
this was easy, even though i did play magmars, as this was his younger but
more experienced brothers deck, and i could tell he did not really know how
to play it properly. anyway, he used stuff like( GASP) pokeballs, but never
really got anything going. gyarados was taken down with removals and wiggly/
scyther while i dont think he ever even got blastoise out, and if he did i
koed it sort of like i did gyarados. easy match up, i won.
RECORD: 1-1
round 3: me vs tom lafleur with odd wiggly/ mime deck with gastlies and
scythers
tom has like 10 of most of the american holos, and he and his son have
great
decks.tom used to be the leader of the toys r us league, and everyone wanted
to play him, but only a few people could beat him. i always wanted to play
him but he stopped coming for like a long long time, and my decks back then
were pitiful anyway. now however, i had a good deck and finally got to play
him. anyway, he got a very slow start to my fast one, and mime was taken down
by( GASP) wiggly, after lullabying it until it didnt wake up, and then i
waved it, gastlies were easily taken down in the beginning of the game, and i
managed, somehow, to shut down his pokemon almost completely with like my
removals, which oddly were drawn and used very close together. he did get out
wiggly, but he never got his bench full and i supered it anyway. i drew all
of my prizes, i think, or maybe i benched him out? i cant remember, all i
know is that his slow start cost him deeply, and i won.
RECORD:2-1
round 4: me vs cory tangman with psy wiggly deck
cory beat me in the finals of that other big tournament i wrote about
under
watermaker in april. that deck was really pathetic, now that i look back at
it. anyway, he was playing almost the exact same deck, except without
hitmonchans i think. in the beginning i was handicapped as he got out wiggly
pretty early, but he played a here comes team rocket and that really helped.
i got back on top and won, i think i drew all my prizes, but i cant
remember... he was close to decking anyway. i got my revenge again( i have
beaten him other times after my tournament loss to him for 1st and 2nd place)
RECORD: 3-1
round 5: me vs justin chappael with muk, scyther and buzz deck
i personally dont like this kid. he always thinks whoever he gets beat by
cheats. i was no exception, as i was not really affected by muk, plus he was
majorly handicapped as he was energy screwed. pretty easy. after the match,
like i said, he went complaining to his mom that i cheated. he was babbling
about how when he used an energy retrieval( which he findered up) i made him
discard a card. i did, because you have to when you use energy retrieval, and
he didnt. anyway, enough about him, onto the finals.i won pretty easily.
RECORD: 4-1
finals round 1: me vs joshua weisbrodd torres with buzz, scyther, ditto deck
he is like a friend of mine here at the tournies and leagues, and we are sort
of like rivals. we have pretty even records against each other, but i think
im ahead by like 2. i was sort of nervous though, even though i knew his deck
really well. he did put up a fight, but wiggly dominated and i drew my last
prize when i waved his ditto for 60, he put me to sleep, i didnt wake up, but
i gusted ditto to the bench automaticall koing it. good game josh, this is
like the first time i have beat him in a tournament.
RECORD: 5-1
finals: round 2: me vs tom lafleurs son thayer, with a clefable, ditto,
scyther, mewtwo and chan deck
i played this kid in the tournie last week with the same deck and i covered
both of his weaknesses, psy resistant and fighting resistant pokemon, and his
rainbow energies made his 70 hpers 60hpers, wave victims, and i won. this
time, it was even shorter! i won like on my second turn with a wiggly to his
lone mewtwo afetr receiving an excellent draw. good game, thayer.
RECORD: 6-1
finals round 3: me vs joshs mom, jenny with odd sponge( tauros was what i
found odd)
jenny is really good, and she and her boyfriend are both frequent tournie
winners. i got a slow start, but after top decking an oak, i got out wiggly
and cleaned up a bit. tauros put up quite a fight, but the match ended when i
waved her buzz, she scooped it up, sent out her last basic, tauros, and
stomped. on my turn, i played a 5th pokemon to my bench, and waved it for the
ko. she forgot to put buzz back down after scooping it up! she realized this
immediately after i waved tauros, and she started laughing and congratulating
me on a great game. if it hadnt been for that, i might not have even won!
good game jenny.
RECORD: 7-1
FINALS: me vs david dillow with stall sponge with lickitungs, buzz, scyther,
ditto and mewtwo, along with like 4 finders, 4 fugi, 4 scoop up, 4 supers(
energy removal) and 4 pokecenters
this guy had won like two or three tournies already this weekend, and his
deck was good; it had a lot of offense and a lot of defense, but to make a
loooong story short, he oaked a few times( so did i) and he was about to
deck, when he fugied a mewtwo and an energy. i was about to deck now, but his
lickitung was damaged after a wave, and when he drew his second to last card(
the only cards he had in his deck were the fugied mewtwo and energy) it was
mewtwo, not the only energy he had left, and he didnt get the chance to
paralyze me for the win( i would have drawn the last card on my turn, not
been able to attack, and i would deck) so he let me go and i waved him for my
last prize.
FINAL RECORD: 8-1
i won my first tournie!!! and this was only the second week for me to come
back to peter pipers to play in their tournaments!! everyone congratulated
me, and i won like 10 or 11 boosters, like 5 were rocket, and i pulled only
two holos( base two pidgeot and a holo scyther base two. darn.
