Ahhhhhh...the fresh feeling of a new week, a new
tournament. Past tournaments of unspeakably embarassing losses, I was driven
for revenge, but this time, I realized my mission. I had to conquer my
fellow trainers, become a true Pokémon Master, rule the Pokémon throne
once again...and of course, win $20 bucks. Much to my suprise however, the
new faces and unforgiving competition proved to more than bargained for.
However, my hours spent of researching, experimenting, and
tweeking led me to trimumphant victory in the end...

Many
of the cards in this deck need no explanation, but for the intelecctually
challenged few out there, here we go (by the way, it's a joke, so stop
sending the hate mail, eh?)...
well the pokémon speak for
themselve. You have quick damage, flexibility,
scyther-stoppers, and of course, your status
powerhouse. After experimenting with
"Hot Jalepeno Potpourri", I
realized that small amounts of energy still show up, oddly as it seems. The
trainers are basically "HHP", with a few minor modifications. Now
that you better understand the method to my madness, let's get to the
tournament, eh?

Tournament
Round One vs, Jason Goodman
/ Psychic
ARGH...for some reason Psychic
decks give me an unusally hard time, and this was no exception. He starts
off big with a Fossil Gastly and Drowzee, me with Electabuzz and Magmar.
And, just my luck, he goes first! He licks for ten, but, what's this? The
coin lands on TAILS, maybe this game won't suck so bad after all...next turn
I attach and energy and Thundershock for 10, no Paralisis. We exchange blows
until he evolves his lone Drowzee into Hypno, and attacks full force. As
Prophecy most likely keeps my Lickitungs away, I begin to Thunderpunch away.
After finally killing his Hypno, he Oaks and pulls a Promo (!!!) Mewtwo and
a Scyther. I Scoop Up my Buzz, only to bring out a fully pumped Magmar, and
PlusPower Smog for 50. He retreats Scyther only for it to be GOW'ed and
killed next turn. Now I face the big, the bad, the Promo Mewtwo. He absorbs
energy from his dead Gastly and adds an energy. Luckily for me, I manage a
SER, only without energy to spare. Finally he gets the final energy to put
40 on my Magmar. The next turn, who shows up? LICKITUNG!!! I keep my poker
face however, and hesitate to lay him down. Finally I SER and gamble with
Smokescreen, but no cigar. My fainted Magmar is replaced with Scyther and I
finally lay down Lickitung, much to his disliking. I add an energy to
Scyther waiting for a DC. The game drones on with me stalling and him
sweating. Finally I get down to one prize and double PlusPower a
Thunderpunch for major overkill on his lone Abra, winning my first round...
Record: 1-0

Round Two - Chris
Powell / Haymaker
This
has GOT to be the most boring match-ups ever. Haymaker vs. Haymaker. I hate
these matches but hey, they wanna win too...I start off with Lickitung to
his Hitmonchan, not good. Luckily I go first and draw. I slap my Godsent DC
but don't confuse him. Next turn he PlusPowers a Jab for 50, NOT good. I
figure I can still win the next game when to my suprise, I draw a Bill.
(insert evil grin here) I Bill to bring my total to 9. I lay down my Scyther
and hidden Electabuzz, grinning from ear to ear. I go for a Tongue Wrap and
put 10 on him, but sadly flip tails. At least my Lickitung went down in
a blaze of licking glory though, I praise him. The big bad bug Scyther takes
his place, rendering his Hitmo useless. However he Comp. Searches for a
Magmar, making the match look bad for me. He actually pays the retreat cost
and brings out Magmar to do 20 with Smokescreen, and flipping heads.
Luckily, it's the DEFENDING Pokémon that can't attack, not the active, so I
retreat Scyther for Buzz and deep fry Magmar alive. The cards were in my
favor the rest of the game as three Scythers swapped around damage while
Electabuzz and Lickitung kicked butt and took names. Didn't see much of
Magmar however, but then again, his Scythers (if he had them) were
pretty quiet the whole game.
Record: 2-0

Round Three - Andrew
Stanley / Anti-Haymaker
This
really is the lowest one person can go sometimes, making an anti, and
quite frankly, it sickens me. People so des...nevermind, I guess I'm
rambling...onto the funny and quick match. He starts off with, guess who?
STARYU, to my Scyther. I desperately try to search for energy as he Slaps me
senseless, and finally find it and Oak halfway through my deck for
a PlusPower to get rid of his only Basic, Staryu, quite
quickly and also proving that sometimes these decks aren't all they are cut
out to be. Better luck next time you Hay-burning metropheliac.
Record: 3-0

FINAL ROUND - Kyle
Morrsion / Haymaker
This
guy was really on his P's and Q's, and definately proved to be worth a
fight. He was running basically my deck, just without the Lickitungs, which
was probably his downfall. We start off, his Electabuzz to my Magmar, which
wasn't great for me, but wasn't terrible either. He goes first and attacks
for 10, no Paralisis. I get a crap hand, things like Fugi, SER, and Item
Finder, which all do me no good. I lay on the fire and it works this time,
dearming Buzz. We battle for a while before Lickitung finally trots in to my
rescue. I use that neglected Scoop Up for my beaten-down Magmar and slap a
DC under Lickitung, but no Confusion. He takes a shot below the belt by
GOW-ing my Magmar and killing it with a Thundershock. Things weren't looking
good but finally I get a Confusion shot in with Lickitung, and start going
off with Tongue Wrap. Later into the game I begin to looked decked when
Gambler saves me by giving me a card while Scythers and Lickitungs handled
the battle field. A final Slash proved to be fatal to his Electabuzz, giving
me my honor, Mastership, and a cool $20.
Final Record:
4-0 / Undefeated
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great tourny overall this week. I would have
liked to seen more of Magmar and Electabuzz, but Lickitungs and Scythers
more than proved their worth in the final running. A little advice to future
and advanced deck builders alike...PUT LICKITUNGS IN HAYMAKERS!!! Even
though they're weak to Fighting, everyone using GOOD Haymakers replaced
Hitmonchan with Magmar.
I figure it's catching on with everyone, so why not some PROPS
and SLOPS?
PROPS to my friend Paul
who kept me fresh with Mt. Dew and Milky Ways during the tourny.
PROPS to Lickitung, for
pulling me out of some fugly jams.
PROPS to Kyle for giving
such intense competition
SLOPS to Time Capsule for
making kids sponser the tournies from now on.
SLOPS to the kid standing
over my shoulder the whole time.
SLOPS to Magmar for not
stopping more Scythers than he should have.
$20 bucks is a good enough prize for me, even IF Time Capsule wouldn't throw
in a few boosters...
