Hey Pojo! How's everyone out there doing today?
This is Alexa, and here's another summary of my day at the Pokemon league, with
my deck, Gengar, Buzz, and Mewtwo! An explanation of why each card is in the
deck is below.
GENGAR, BUZZ,
& MEWTWO, v 1.2
Pokemon: (17)
4 Electabuzz
2 Fossil Zapdos
3 MP Mewtwo
3 Fossil Gastly
3 Fossil Haunter
2 Gengar
Trainers: (19)
4 Bill
2 Professor Oak
2 Computer Search
3 Super Energy Removal
4 PlusPower
2 Gust Of Wind
2 Switch
Energy: (24)
10 Electric Energy
14 Psychic Energy
STRATEGY:
Gain an early game advantage with Electabuzz and
Mewtwo, while evolving
to Gengar and building
up Zapdos. Then,
promote Zapdos, and
pile the damgae on their Bench. Curse
it around with Gengar
to KO those 30-50 HP Pokemon to grab multiple Prizes. Oh, and have fun!
EXPLANATIONS:
POKEMON:
ELECTABUZZ:
Very energy-efficient, great starter, you know why Buzz is good.
ZAPDOS:
Amazing bench-killer, although is IS an energy fattie, a horrible starter, and
extremely kamikaze. That's why I only run two. MP
MEWTWO: Eats
Hitmonchan for breakfast, speedy, recharges itself.
You know why Mewtwo is
good, as well. FOSSIL
GASTLY: An okay starter, it kicks Base Gastly
in the pants. He is needed for Haunter
and Gengar, also.
FOSSIL HAUNTER: It
is good when you need to stall for time. Needed for Gengar.
GENGAR:
Curse and Dark Mind are a great combo, this guy is okay as an attacker and even
better as a sneaky ol' defender, too. Great for the metagame.
TRAINERS:
BILL: Card drawing....duh.
PROFESSOR OAK: Better card
drawing....double duh. COMPUTER
SEARCH: Search for any card. It could be a Pokemon, a Bill, an Oak, a Super
Energy Removal, anything! SUPER
ENERGY REMOVAL:A great card, it can really frustrate an opponent.
PLUSPOWER: A nice surprise. They may
waste an energy in a move to build up for an attack that they think they'll have
time to use, and then.....BAM! Hehehe. GUST
OF WIND: Another little "surprise". Use it to KO an injured
benchwarmer. SWITCH:
A lot of the Pokemon in this deck, minus the ghosts, have high retreat costs.
Also, it helps remove any staus effects you may have, without risking not being
able to retreat, wasting energy, and so on. The
energies sort of explain themselves. ;)
On with the report. Match
1 vs. ? with
Grass/Psychic
The first match of the day. I hoped to
start off well, and I did. He
started off with a Mew active and an Oddish on the bench. I had a Mewtwo active,
that's all. He went first. I didn't want him to do Psywave for 60 (weakness), so
I decided to hold off with the energies until I was sure that I could do
it all in two turns. I passed without doing anything. He attached a grass to
Oddish and said go. I passed again, after benching and attaching to a Gastly. He
attached an energy to Mew and was done. Finally, I got something to get me
energies in the discard; an Oak. I Oaked, attached an energy and Absorbed. He
smiled, and Psywaved. I gulped, benched an Electabuzz, attached to it, ad KO'd
the Mew with Psyburn. He evolved the Oddish into Gloom, and poisoned Mewtwo,
KOing it. I sent out Buzz and Thunderpunched. Gloom was evolved into Vileplume,
which then killed my Buzz. I benched another, attached to it, and Licked the
Vileplume with Gastly. No paralysis. Gastly was KO'd by Petal Dance, but I got
the 'Plume with my Electabuzz and a PlusPower. Phew. Using a combination of
Mewtwo and Electabuzz, I finally won, albeit six turns from decking myself, when
I was ahead by just one Prize. MATCH
RECORD: 1- 0
Matches 2 & 3 vs.
? with Fighting (Match
2) and Water (Match 3)
The first match, I led
off with Gastly, vs. his Sandshrew. I swapped it out for Mewtwo once it was
pumped and ready, and devasted his entire deck with that one card. Six Pokemon
fell, one after another, ending with me the victor. The
second game wasn't much tougher, as he used a mono (non-Raindance) Water deck,
and I led off with Electabuzz. I don't remember much about this game, except for
the fact that it was really easy, and, once again, I KO'd every Pokemon with
just one card, that same Buzz. MATCH
RECORD: 3- 0 Match
4 vs. Tasha with
Grass/Water
Her deck was the
Nidoqueen kind, not weak to Fire. This made the match easier. I started with
Gastly and Mewtwo yet again, and that really made this easy. She started with
Nidoran Female! I went first, and attacked with Lick, no paralysis. Her
turn, she attached a Grass and Fury Swiped for 10 damage. I
attached an energy to Mewtwo, and Licked, this time with Paralysis. She evolved
to Nidorina to get around it, and used Supersonic, after benching a Scyther and
attaching a Grass to it. She got heads, and confused my Gastly. I attached a Psy
to Mewtwo and tried to attack. Heads! It was successful. I licked with no
Paralysis. Tasha dropped a DCE on Nidorina, and KO'd Gastly with Double Kick. I
sent out Mewtwo and KO'd the Nidorina with Psyburn. She played Scyther, and
Sword Danced. Then, she benched a Magikrap. Excuse me...Magikarp. I
played Buzz, and attached an Electric. Then, I Psyburned the Scyther. She did 60
with Slash. I attached another Electric to Electabuzz, and Psyburned to KO
Scyther. She promoted her only basic, Magikarp, and Tackled my Mewtwo for the
kill. No matter, here comes Buzz! I Thunderpunched the Magikarp for the win!
MATCH RECORD: 4 - 0
Match 5 vs.
my friend Mike with Grass/Psychic
Another one! It seems
that everyone I played today was playing Grass! Fine by me, seeing that Grass
is, IN GENERAL, a weak colour. There are exceptions to the rule, as in Venusaur,
Exeggcutor, Scyther, Beedrill, Pinsir, etc...Anyway, on to the match. This was,
by far, the easiest match of the day. He started Caterpie, and I Buzz, with a
Benched Mewtwo. This WOULD have been over in two turns if it wasn't for Energy
Removal. He ER'd Buzz's Electric, and kept Paralyzing my Pokemon. He made a
fatal mistake, though. He Gusted out and Paralyzed Mewtwo, instead of Paralyzing
Electabuzz. I just used a Switch card, and Thunderpunched for the win!
MATCH RECORD: 5- 0
Match 6 vs.
Andrew with Old
- School Haymaker
He mulliganed 5 times!
In short, it was an easy match-until my mom showed up. She didn't want to wait,
and so I had to forfeit when only a few turns from winning. D'OH! Oh well,
there's always next week! MATCH
RECORD: 5- 1 ( IN MY MIND, 6- 0.) Hey!
I got my Computer Error! <<Note
to Self: Do NOT put this in a deck!>> It's
pretty bad, in my opinion. Oh well.....it's a Promo. Please
post this report. It took me almost two hours to type, as I am an extremely slow
typer and dumb with computers. ;) NOW,
'TIS TIME FOR PROPS AND SLOPS! PROPS:
- To Skyfox Games, for
hosting the Pokemon League.
- To the guy who traded me a
BS2 Alakazam for my TR, non-holo Slowbro! (He desparately needed it for his
deck.)
- To my friend Couan,
because I feel like giving her one. :)
- To Justin Smith, who gave
me pointers on fixing this deck. I'll fix it up as soon as I get all the
cardsw. Thanks!
- To the Pojo, for running a
great site and keeping me up to date with all the Pokemon news.
- To you, for reading this
far.
SLOPS:
No slops today, I don't
think that anyone deserves any! Anyway,
you Pojo-holics, have fun playing! If
you have any tips, deck fixes, another name for this deck, or any comments,
please send them to me. Alexa
