I arrived at 3:00 only to find out the tourney started at
3:30, which
gave me a lot of time to work on my deck I had just built that day. I had to
make some minor adjustments because I didn't have all the cards I wanted, so
the deck isn't perfect. Here it is:
To Oak or Not to Oak v1.0
Pokemon
4 Jigglypuff (for Wiggly)
4 Wigglytuff (amazing card)
3 Magmar (F) (I don't have to explain)
3 Electabuzz (B) (see above)
3 Scyther (J) (see above)
Energy
7 Fire (for Magmar)
5 Lightning (for Electabuzz)
4 DCE (for Wiggly and sometimes Scy)
Trainers
2 Goop Gas Attack (Have you ever oaked half your deck away to do 10 to
Erika's
Dratini? Not anymore more!)
1 Scoop Up (A lone Magmar with 60 damage against a full bench?)
4 PlusPower (Take out those Haymaker Pokemon)
2 Rocket Sneak Attack (Get rid of those Energy Removals or Stadium Cards)
1 Nightly Garbage Run (Get back somethings)
1 Pokemon Trader (What if you have 3 Electabuzz, and need a Wiggly?)
1 Impostor Oak's Revenge (After a RSA, if you don't like what you see, use
this)
4 Gust of WInd (Or Gust of WIN! usually says take a prize)
3 Item FInder (Get back something)
4 Computer Search (You can get anything)
4 Professor Oak (Possibly best Trainer)
Here are the tourney results:
Round 1: Me versus Josh
Josh and I go to the same high school and we are friendly, so
we didn't
take this match too seriously. Josh and I had almost exact decks according to
him, because I didn't see too much of it. He said the only major difference
was that he used Hitmonchan while I used Magmar. Anyways, we flipped and Josh
went first. In my opening hand I got Magmar, Scyther, Jigglypuff, Oak, Item
Finder, and a Gust of Wind. I put out Magmar, and put the rest on the bench.
Josh put out a Scyther (!!) and a Hitmonchan and Jigglypuff on the bench.
Josh goes and puts a DCE on Scyther and passes. My turn, I draw a Fire
Energy, attach it to Magmar, and Oak. My new hand consists of a Wiggly (!!) 2
DCE, a Computer Search, Electabuzz, and a Fire and Electric Energy. I put
Electabuzz on the bench, and did 20 damage with Smokescreen due to Scyther's
weakness. Josh's turn, He put an Electabuzz down, slapped an Energy on
Scyther and attcked sucessfully with Slash for 30 damage. My turn, drew
Magmar and put it on the bench. Them I attached another Fire Energy to my
active Magmar and used Smog for 40 damage and flipped for poison. Coin flip
is heads! Scyther is knocked out and I pick up a prize. My prize was a
Scyther!! Now I can have a full bench!!! Josh's turn, he brings out a
HItmonchan, attaches a Fighting Energy an Jabs so my Magmar has 50 damage. On
my turn, I placed an Electric Energy on Jigglypuff and used Smog for 20
damage with no poison. Josh attached another energy to Hitmonchan and used
Jab to knock out my Magmar. I brought out Jigglypuff, attached a DCE and
evolved to Wiggly, did Do the Wave for 50 which was enough to knock out
Hitmonchan. I picked up a prize so now it was 4 prizes to 5 prizes. On Josh's
turn he brought out Jigglypuff, attached an energy and used Lullaby as a last
ditch effort. Fortuneately for him it was successful, so I was asleep. On my
turn, I used Comp. Search for a Plus Power. I ended my turn without waking
up. Josh passed his turn (no energy maybe?) and I was still asleep. I passed
my turn and was still asleep. Josh attached another Energy to Jigglypuff and
used pound. The coin flip was heads and I woke up! I dropped Plus Power on
the table and Did the Wave for 60 to win the game!

Round 2: Me versus young John
This kid was about 7 years old and he looked so much like
Jake Llyod
(Anakin Skywalker). Anyways, I don't remeber much except his deck was
comprised of mainly Bulbasaurs and Bellsprouts. I do remember him having a
Rocket's Scyther, which prevented damage from Wiggly for a couple of turns,
but I knocked it out. Then he brought out a Chansey. After I attacked for 60,
he attached a Defender on Chansey and passed. I hated to do this, but time
was running out, so I dropped 2 Plus Powers and Did the Wave for 80, or 60
after Deender's effects, and picked up another prize. The next Pokemon I
think I knocked out was a Zubat. After that Chansey I saw he started to ge
upset, so I decided to take it easy when Uncle John told us since we started
late, we could finish. He Gusted a Scyther from my Bench, with no energy. I
could have easily retreated it after I Gusted for a Lickitung, but I didn't,
I let him knock out the Scyther and start beating on an Electabuzz, until I
looked at my deck. There was only 5 cards left! It was at rthat time I oaked
for basics, brought out Wiggly and Waved his Poke's away.

Round 3: Me versus older Joe
Joe hasn't been around much lately when I go to the League or
tournament,
but when he is there I have a challenge. Jo doesn't use power decks or
archetypes that are popular now. He comes up with his own decks and makes
them good. I too have done that, but everytime I do, the deck gets beaten
into a pulp because all my good Trainers are in my good decks. Anyway, today
he was playing a Dark Charizard deck, which I thought was very original due
to it's content. Anyway, I believe I got a hand of a Jiggly, a Wiggly, an
Electabuzz, two Electric Energy, and two Oaks. I went first, played Elec and
Energy, Jiggly on bench and did Thundershock against a Blaine's Growlithe. I
can't remeber much about these later matches due to a sugar crash from a
Nestea with extra sugar that morning. Anyway, all I can remember is that I
Played Wiggly, Oaked, got the perfect hand (DCE, 4 Basics, 2 PlusPower) and
started taking out all his little basics before he even got a Dark Charizard
out.

Round 4: Me versus younger Joe
I can't remember a single thing about this match except that
I got out
Wiggly in the middle of the game, after Oaking through 3/4 of my deck, then I
had to NGR most of the basics he knocked out into the deck and Computer
Search for them so I could win the match.
Record:4-0-0
Round 5: Me versus Joe's youngr brother (Sorry, I forgot his name!)
He was playing a fighting, water deck with Pokemon like
Misty's Tentacool
and Brock's Onix. It looked to me like he took 2 preconstructed decks and
combined them. To make a short story even shorter, Wiggly on turn two, full
bench on turn three, took out Tentacool's and stuff like that for the win.
