> <PROP 15 TOURNAMENT>
>
> Game Keeper a.k.a Wizards of the Coast held it's first ever Prop 15 Round
> Robin Tournament.  It was 2 points for a win and 1 point for a loss.  The
> twist to this tournament was it not only having Prop 15 restrictions but
> also decks had to have a mono-color theme.  A little rumor before tourney
> started was that the Gym Leader stated to get used to playing with 15
> trainers because word has it that at the East Coast STS in New Jersey Prop
> 15 will be enforced!  Without any further adieu here is my deck list and
> report:
>
> Pokemon(21)
> 3 Bulbusaur
> 3 Ivysaur
> 3 Venusaur
> 1 Promo Venusaur
> 3 Jungle Scyther
> 1 Rocket Scyther
> 3 Brock's Zubat
> 3 Brock's Golbat

> Energy (24)
> 20 Grass
> 4 DCE
>
> Trainers (15)
> 2 Prof. Oak
> 3 Gust of Wind
> 3 CPU Search
> 3 Pokemon Center
> 2 E. Retrieval
> 2 Breeder

> Game 1 vs. Charles D.
> Young kid with a grass deck that was telling people "I will whip your but
> with my grass deck!"  Naturally I accepted.  Unfortunately Charles didn't
> whip my butt.  I used quick knock outs with Scyther and Brock''s Golbat to
> win by benching.
>
> Record 1-0
>
> Game 2 vs. Ben
> Ben is another adult player that got into the game with his son.  Ben was
> using a Raindance I assume but he never got Blastoise going. I knocked out
> as many Squirtles and Dewgongs to win by prizes.  Ben is actually a good
> strategy player but I see Prop 15 slowing down Raindance especially
> because of not getting combos off quick enough in this case.
>
> Record 2-0
>
> Game 3 vs. Valerie
> Valerie was also playing Raindance and Valerie also did not get Blastoise
> out in time and fell to Scyther and Brock's Golbat.  I won by prizes.
> Record 3-0
> Game 4 vs. Stephen
> Stephen was playing some Psychic deck that I couldn't figure out.  I
> couldn't figure it out because I won with a fully pumped Venusaur by turn
> 4.
>
> Record 4-0
>
> Game 5 vs. Nick (my son)
> Nicholas is my son who is only 6 years old but stills plays the game.  I
> think it is weird that Wizards states Pokemon is for 10 years and up but
> the majority of players in this area are either 10 and below or the
> parents of the 10 and below!  Oh well!  Nick was playing his Raindance
> deck with 4 Blastoise and Dark Blastoise the twist to this deck is using
> Omanyte's power Clairvoyance.  Nick only had Lapras (active) and Omanyte
> on his bench and I gusted out Omanyte (weakness) to grass and slashed for
> the knock-out.  I continued to beat on Lapras for the win.
>
> Record 5-0
>
> Game 6 vs. Tim
> Tim was playing a nasty Turbo Dark Snorlax deck with Ditto's and various
> colorless pokes.  I say this is nasty because how do you like to get hit
> by 20 every time you try to attack?  Rocket Snorlax attacks your active
> Pokemon with 20 damage if Rocket's Snorlax is asleep at the beginning of
> your turn.  It went back and forth until it was his Ditto versus my
> Brock's Golbat.  We kept on hitting each other's bench until I was able to
> heal via Energy Trans while his whole bench was damaged.  I then used
> Pokemon Center and viola all Pokemon on my side fully healed all Pokemon
> on his side nearly dead and the last prize was mine.
>
> Record 6-0
>
> Game 7 vs. Peter
> It looked as if Peter was playing the same deck except that he wasn't able
> to get Venusaurs out quick enough and no Scythers on his side. Brock's
> Golbat and my lone Rocket Scyther dominated and I won by benching him.
>
> Record 7-0
>
> Game 8 vs. Diane
> Final game of the night.  Diane was using a Gengar Curse deck, which
> actually I think has potential to dominate under Prop 15 with the right
> combinations to beat colorless pokes.  We were going back and forth on
> prizes when time was called and she won with less remaining prizes.
>
> Record 7-1
>
> I tied for 1st place overall with Valerie and we split the 1st place prize
> of 16 booster packs.  Overall this was the first tournament anyone played
> using Prop 15.  I guess everyone was getting a feel of playing with 15
> trainers.  I was lucky not face a fire deck all night long!  I would have
> to say that Prop 15 slowed things down a bit.  I played 3 matches against
> Raindance and won them all with using VenuCenter (w/out Chansey) who would
> of thought?  Watch out for Potpourri Haymakers and Blaine's Magmar with
> the Blaine Trainer card to possibly dominate under Prop 15.  It is my
> opinion that with more energies being put in decks with combination of  No
> Energy Removal Gym that Energy Removal and SER will severely be hurt.
>
> Props to: Slops to:
> Al parents that play Prop 15
> Brock's Golbat
> Pojo Site
> Game Keeper Gym Leader for knowing all the rules
