Chaos Gym... ...this one card strikes fear into the hearts of many, Haymaker
using, people...
The deck I made about a month ago (sometime late December), and ever since I
used it in the tourney, it worked like a charm! After using my deck for the past
few weeks, I learned how to control it! After tinkering with it, and actually
placing in the Tourney, it came down to this.
Chaos
3 Scyther
3 Rocket's Zapdos
3 Electabuzz (Base Set)
3 Rocket's Mewtwo
2 Mewtwo (Promo #14)
1 Elekid
2 Cleffa
3 Lass
3 Chaos Gym
2 Rocket's Sneak Attack
3 Professor Oak
3 Computer Search
3 Gold Berry
1 Focus Band
1 Mary
10 Psychic Energy
11 Electric Energy
1 Recycle Energy
2 Double Colorless Energy
The goal of the deck is to start with a first-turn hitter, like Electabuzz or
Rocket's Zapdos. If you win the coin flip, then do what ever you can to get a
Cleffa with an Energy out, use a Lass, then use Eeeeeeek to get 7 more cards!
Elekid comes in handy, and Rocket's Mewtwo works well once it's powered up! Gold
Berry and Focus Band help keep your Pokémon alive, and if you flip tails with
Chaos Gym, your opponent may NOT use it! Stop using most of your trainers once
Chaos Gym is out, and use your opponent's Trainers to your advantage!
___---¯¯¯---The Tourney---¯¯¯---___
Okay, there were 32 participants and me, my mom, and my little bro were some of
them! They all had good decks, but this story is about me and my deck, so...
1st Round vs. Kenny with his new Steel Haymaker deck
I was faring pretty well in the classic fight between Haymakers, although, not
much to be said, he got Skarmory out and managed to get 4 Metal Energies (that I
let him borrow!) on it. I couldn't manage to beat it, and in the end, he got
me... ...oh well...
0 Wins, 1 Loss
2nd Round vs. Kid with a Fighting Haymaker deck
Okay... This is bad. I started with an Electabuzz and he had a Hitmonchan! I won
the coin flip, so that's a help. I used an Oak, then I attached a Focus Band to
Electabuzz and set down Rocket's Mewtwo and attached a Psychic Energy to it and
I passed. After he eventually Knocked Out Electabuzz (thank you Focus Band), my
Rocket's Mewtwo had 3 Psychic Energies on it. I attached another one and used
Psyburn. 120 damage! He sent out a Neo Onix. I Psyburned it. He sent out a
Gligar and used Poison Sting. Tails. I Psyburned. He sent out Hitmonchan. I
Psyburned. He had no more Benched Pokémon. I won!
1 Win, 1 Loss
3rd Round vs. Frankie and his Turbo Wiggly deck
I knew that I could win this, because the day before the tourney, I battled him
and won. It was a fairly tough match though, as he managed to get 2 of his
Wiggly's out. He drew waaaayyyyy to many cards (with Oak, Misty's Wrath, etc.),
and I decked him and won. He was kinda being a sore loser.
2 Wins, 1 Loss
4th Round vs. Daffy and his Haymaker
He started with Scyther and Ditto, I started with Rocket's Zapdos and some other
stuff. I got Chaos Gym out early and beat away at his Pokémon. I powered
Rocket's Zapdos up until it was ready, and by then, I was just one Electroburn
away from the game... ...guess what I did. I won!
3 Wins, 1 Loss
5th Round vs Kallen and his modified Haymaker
Oh boy, Kallen... I haven't battled him since January 1st, 2000, and I won. He's
very tough though. He started weak, and I started with Electabuzz and some other
good stuff. I gave him the first turn Lass and managed to power up Electabuzz so
it could beat his Scyther (I think it was a Scyther), and then I Thundershocked
his Erika's Dratini, and my coins must've been happy, they kept getting heads! I
eventually won this match. It was a quick win though, so we had a just-for-fun
rematch. I won that too.
4 wins, 1 Loss
I got fifth in the Tourney, and I'm proud of it! (Although I should've gotten
4th or 3rd...)
Well, all and all, I had a GREAT time! It was very fun, and the games were a
challenge! And I got my Zephyr Badge in the League afterward!
Props to:
Me for doing a great job with my deck recently, and for being 1st in all of
Wisconsin!
My brother for letting us go to the tourney, and for beating this one kid who
used an Erika's Dratini deck.
Matt, the kid with the Erika's Dratini deck, for being a good sport when my
brother battled him. (I got to watch!)
Pojo for being an awesome site! Full of info and fun! Five stars!
Tommorow is Yesterday for being a great hobby store!
My website, Marriland for being cool! www.marriland.com
Slops to:
Frankie for being a sore loser.
The Neo 3 pack I got that had a Starmie in it. v_v
