This is my ideal stall deck, and though I was best in my school from the year before at playing cards, I was beaten the previous day (Saturday September 9, 2000) at the Super Trainer Showdown Qualification Tournament (East Coast) and went back on Sunday, determined to come out with at least a little something.

Round 1 vs ?????’s grass
deck
The first round was fairly easy. Only the usual Beedrills and Vileplumes.
The only problem I ran into was the 25-minute time limit. The player was
obviously no challenge but she was extremely slow (drawing, energizing, just
playing the game), which posed a problem for me. But after about 23 minutes of
my four Chanseys being out in play with the help of my Alakazam and Mr. Mime
left victorious.
Round 2 vs ?????’s
fighting deck
This is how I lost the tournament the day before, when my Chanseys and
Snorlaxes fell to their knees before Hitmonchans, Hitmonlees and Machamps, but
this time I had a different strategy. Rather than winning by making my opponent
run out of cards, I would attempt to conquer him by taking all my prizes. Though
an unthinkable strategy for a stall decks, I figured it was my only hope. The
big problem I had been keeping my Mr. Mimes energized (you must remember, I only
had 14 Energy in that deck, only 11 of which was Psycic). Eventually after more
than one stroke of luck, and my Chanseys on my bench volenteering to suck up all
of Mr. Mime’s damage through Alakazam while my Mr. Mimes were beating up his
Psycic-weak fighters, I won the battle.
Round 3 vs ?????’s Muk
Deck
Now that is cheap!!!
It’s just my luck to fall upon an extremely rare Muk Deck (which is based upon
stopping pokemon powers) when if I beat the opponent I would receive and
invitation to the actual Super Trainer Showdown!!! I can not emphisize any more
of how enfuriated I was after the battle (because as you can imagine, I lost). I
don’t think that battle even lasted 6 turns!!! Almost immediately he sent out
his Muks to take out my Chanseys, which were useless when I could not use my
benched Alakazam’s Pokemon Power!!! And even before he got his Muks, I was
still hopeless when turn after turn he used his Goop Gas Attacks. Now I’m
sorry but that is without a doubt the
worst luck you can possibly have. I was however, awarded 4 Gym Heroes packs for
getting that far, which is not too bad, until you consider what I would have
gotten had I won (8 Pokemon Gym Heroes packs and a invitation to the East Coast
Super Trainer Showdown).
Not my best battling work, but when you are the lowest in your age group
you have to try extra-hard. I expect to do better next year…
