About 15 participants (usually a tiny tourney)
Hello, this is Hawkeye, A.K.A. wolf_ash104, and I have a deck that I think
is fairly good. I'll explain as I go.
Basic Pokemon:
Psyduck (Rocket) X 2 (for Dizziness)
Psyduck (Fossil) X 2 (Headache helps to fight haymakers, but not too
well.)
Magikarp (Rocket) X 4 (Evolves to Gyarados, has Rapid Evlolution, unlike
the base version)
Seel (Base) X 3 (Dewgong)
Misty's Psyduck (Gym Challenge) X 2 (ESP rocks, and it evolves to Misty's
Golduck)
Unown "N" (Neo Discovery) X 1 (Pokemon Power: Normal)
Gastly (Fossil) X 2 (Evolves to Haunter, then Gengar)
Stage 1 Pokemon:
Golduck (Fossil) X 4 (Hyper Beam)
Gyarados (Base) X 4 (Dragon Rage, 100 HP, Fighting resistance)
Dewgong (Base) X 3 (Similar to Gyarados, but with 20 less HP, no
resistance, different weakness, and different, less strict, energy
requirements)
Misty's Golduck (Gym Challenge) X 1 (Super Removal is great, Electro Beam
is OK)
Haunter (Fossil) X 2 (Transparency, Nightmare, and Evolves)
Stage 2 Pokemon:
Gengar (Fossil) X 2 (Curse, Dark Mind)
Trainers:
Nightly Garbage Run (Rocket) X 1 (A bit of emergency recovery)
Chaos Gym (Gym Challenge) X 1 (I have four trainers in my deck, so this is
useful to me, as it could allow me to use my opponent's deck against them. I
don't use trainers much because I prefer to use brute force and pokemons'
abilities, and I prefer not to be the cause of my own decking.)
Challenge! (Rocket) X 1 (If I need some fighters on my bench...)
Sprout Tower (Neo Genesis) X 1 (Colorless Resist, total of 60 resistance
when paired with Unown "N")
Energy:
Psychic X 8 (I don'd use very many psychics in this deck, so I don't need
very many energies of that type)
Water X 16 (Duh. Power the water types)
OK, basic description of the deck. Get out Gyarados, Dewgong, Golduck, M's
Golduck, or Gengar quickly, and pound away with heavy attacks.
Round One - Joe with a fire deck:
He complained a lot because I had an advantage, but the battle seemed to be
going on his side, with his typhlosion and B's Arcanine nearly ready. I drew and
got VERY lucky - I put my newly found dewgong onto my fully-charged seel on my
bench, retreat my haunter, and Aurora Beam a few times to KO the only 2 pokemon
he had.
Round Two - Nick with a wiggly/steelix/haymaker deck
This kid was odd. He tried to cram too many types of pokemon into his deck.
He got a base buzz as his only basic, but no energy for it, and i had a psyduck,
unown N and a magikarp on my bench, with gastly at the helm. i paralyzed him
with Lick, and he still had no energy or backup pokemon, so he pretty much drew
and passed. I got a gyarados and evolved, and in a few turns had a full-charged
gyara. by then he had an onix and a jiggly on his bench, but no energy for his
buzz. i killed it off, then he sent out the Mighty Jiggler. he put me to sleep
but i woke up, then bubblebeamed for paralysis, and it worked. he got steelix
and evolved his onix, then passed. i killed off jiggly, but his steelix managed
to beat gyara and my unprepared bench, so i lost. it was a close game,
though.
Round Three - Cody with a crappy sandslash deck
I dont even want to talk about this one, really... he used nothing but
sandshrews, sandslashes, b's shrews, and b's slashes, and a bunch of speed
trainers. he ended up decking himself by the 13th turn, and i was about to
finish of his last slash anyway. easy win, obviously a newcomer.
i took 3rd, and won a booster of neo discovery, got nothing but
junk
props - to nick with a good deck, despite its obvious flaws, for cody for
joining the fray, and the elysium for having a tourney.
slops - to my crap-a-thon booster pack
