16 Contestants
We had a tournament yesterday at the local Hastings. I was pretty psyched
up because i had just made this new deck. I had used it the week before but made
some minor tweaks to freshen it up a little. I had only lost once out of 10
before last week and hoping i would have the same luck today. Anyways here's the
deck.
Pokemon - 19
4 Jigglypuff
3 Wigglytuff
4 Scyther
4 Rocket's Scyther
4 Sneasel
Trainers - 21
3 Computer Search - Do get Dark Energies or a vital extra benched
pokemon
4 Plus Power - In my opinion one of the best cards in any fast deck
4 Bill - No explanation needed
4 Good Manners - Search my deck for a Benched Pokemon? Sure!!
3 Professor Elm - Sometimes replaced with Professor Oaks
3 Ecogym - Save those dark energies!!!
Energies - 20
12 Grass
4 Dark
4 Double Colorless
Aptly named this deck relies on having a full bench and either Wiggltuff or
Sneasel in play. With Scyther to weaken their guys and Rocket's Scyther to stall
this deck has very few problems. I like Good Manners a lot better than Challenge
because Good Manners doesn't help them. I use Oaks in 3 prize matches and Elms
in 6 Prize matches. Well here's the battles.
Round 1 vs. Electric/Fire
I asked this kid what deck he had and he said fire/electric. I'd have to
take his word for it because this battle only lasted two turns. I went first I
did swordsdance with Scyther. He did Thundershock and tails with Buzz. I attched
DCE to Scyther. PC Searched for PlusPower and won.I really dont like short
battles in tournament play though. But I wasn't going to complain.
1-0
Round 2 vs. Garret Gyarados/Golduck Deck
This guy was really good and he won the last tournament. Things were going
pretty smoothly then all the sudden he said that scyther didn't do double damage
to Gyarados because the attck didn't require grass energies. But we talked to
the gym leaders and we set things straight. After taht my Scythers kicked the
crap out of the Gyarados. After the Gyarados were gone i had 3 prizes he had 6.
He knocked out my Scyther with his Dark Golduck. Then I sent out My Sneasel and
attacked with beat up with a full bench and only suceeded in getting 6 tails.he
knocked out my Sneasel and I sent out Wiggly and killed him. He was out of pokes
I win!
2-0
Semifinals vs. Aaron with Metronome deck (very good deck)
Me and Aaron agreed do have a 3 prize match. Everytime i face him he kicks
my but really hard but i always pull off a victory at the very end.
This match was exactly as I expected he has an awesome deck with all
colorless and 4 recycle, 4 potion, and 4 full heal energies, 4 energy flow. I
mean his deck absolutely rocks. I had a rotten hand and was forced to put out a
sneasel in my setup. O well. The next turn i drew Good Manners and sent out my
Scyther (oooooohhh do i love free retreating!!!!!!) I stocked up a wigglytuff on
my bench while he beat up two sneasels with clefables metronome. I sent out
wigglytuff and killed two clefables using do the wave and plus powers. he had no
choice but to send out togepi. i kicked togepis butt.
3-0
Finals vs. Fire Deck
I was very disappointed i only had scythers in my hand. I took r's Scyther
and sent him out. I used shadow images until i got a sneasel on my bench. He
went through two r's Scyther and i sent out sneasel and had the other fully
charged Sneasel on my bench. Sneasel killed two pokes but was about to KO. So i
retreated and sent out the other scyther and won the last prize. By the Way he
had Rocket's Moltres and Base Magmar.
4-0
I won the tournament and the #1 Promo pikachu! Not Bad. Would've prefered
cash lol! But I had fun.
Props and slops.
Props: to Aaron and his deck.
to Hastings and the Pokemon League
Slops: To Garret who gave me hard time with Scyther
