Roughly
200 players
This was the STS qualifier for the united kingdom,
the night before I had to create a deck to apply to the rules because I had only
been told of the modified format about 4:30 pm. So this was a rushed deck, but
it worked quite well. I would have won, but I couldn't concentrate in the last
round, anyway, here it is
Mind Gamer
4 abra (rocket)
3 dark kadabra
2 dark alakazam
2 slowpoke rocket
2 slowking
4 promo mewtwo (movie)
2 Sabrina's abra
1 Sabrina's kadabra
2 Erika's dritini
2 dratini (rocket)
2 dark Dragonaire
2 Dark dragonite
2 challenge
2 bosses way
2 pokemon march
4 berry
24 Psychic energy
Round 1 vs. kid in blue fleece
Not much to say on this one, 'except is was going
well until the last two turns,
thank goodness it was a points tournament
and I wasn't knocked out after qualifying for these finals.
point so far = 0
Round 2 vs. My friend from my pkmn
league
This was a coincidence, we both didn't know that
the other one was coming, we just found out when we arrived,so it was nice to
have a friend there. Anyway This was a long match, I didn't really have anything
special I had my slowpoke out with energy, just waiting for the king to arrive,
and he had his blaines growlithe. I eventually won 2 points because we had a
prize determined win
Points so far = 2
Round 3 vs. someone with another psychic
deck
I can remember this one well, I started with a
promo mewtwo(movie) he started with a rockets mewtwo, I went first, attached an
energy and passed go. he attached an energy and passed go. I attached
berry and energy then passed go. he attached and hypnoblasted me for 40
damage (weakness) so I discarded berry to be left with 2 damage counters. I
attached another berry, and an energy, psyburned him outta there and removed
berry to heal. he sent out his unknown d that had been on the bench and passed
turn, I psyburned, and that was that. I won in 5 minutes. winning 3 points for a
clear win.
Points so far = 5
Round 4 against the last persons
girlfriend.
I started this with two slowpokes out.
attached an energy to slowpoke and used
afternoon nap. then it was her go with her many brocks vulpix, and then I drew a
slowking, oh happy days, played slowking and another psychic energy and started
to destroy her, for some reason this game dragged on for a full 19 minutes and
40 seconds. I won in 20 seconds to spare to give me 3 points.
Points so far = 8
now the table was very close the highest person,
who nobody wanted to play, had nine and I had eight. If I won this one, My
American dream would have come true.
Round 5, Final Round vs. Kid that no one wanted to
play
After all this, I had gotten stuck with a player
that no one else wanted to play. I started with Sabrina's abra (promo) and he
had two grimers. it was all going smoothly, I had gotten out slowking, two
mewtwos and picked two prizes, and as soon as I had accepted his challenge, it
all went wrong from there. he got out brocks sandshrew, and evolved it straight
away. my already damaged mewtwos (both of them were first to bite the dust) the
it was the fall of the mighty slowking. then it was time up. I had gotten no
points for that round. :(
Points so far = 8
the end of the tournament. overall, I had come 8th
place, my friend had come 9th. it was so close. in first place was the kid I
played last, he had 11. and the points were close after that. oh well, maybe
next year, if wizards trash the under 15 rule, I could get lucky. Thanks for
listening to my report on my Great card game experience.
