The Tech
Deck
Hi everyone. Its been a long time
since I last played the card game. Recently, my friends and I had a little
competition. Since its been a long time since we last played, many of our cards
are very old. They were from the earliest editions of the Pokemon Card Game,
with the original 151 pokemon. We do not know anything at all about the new
pokemon. Still, we had a great time, and I'm looking forward to dueling people
with decks containing the new pokemon. Here's my
deck.
4xScynther
4xPinsir
4xArticuno
2xClefairy
10xGrass
Energy
10xWater
Enery
4xDouble Colourless
Energy
3xProfessor
Oak
3xBill
3xEnergy
Removal
3xPotion
3xScoop
Up
3xGust of
Wind
4xPlus
Power
The deck is designed to hit fast and
hard. All are basic pokemon. It is also anti-Hitmonchan.Pinsir and Scynther are
quick-hitters, and can start attacking with deadly effieciency starting from
your second turn. Articuno is there to provide cover against fire pokemon. It can
also unnerve the opponent with its attacks. Clefairy is there for its metronome,
so that when the heavy-hitters come in and they think that they can strut their
stuff, thety will be in for a big surprise.Overall, this is a fairly easy deck
to set up for those with the earlier editions of the card game. All cards are
taken from base set, jungle and
fossil.
The little tournament had 8 players,
including me. I emerged champion, but received nothing but a bashing from my
friends(Lol). Anyway, here's the
report:
Round
1
Me VS
Clarence
Nothing much to say. He had a
haymaker(lots of Hitmonchans) and Electabuzzes. I wiped out his Hitmonchans with
Scynther(resistance rules!) early in the game. Electabuzz was a little bit more
diffiult as he kept getting heads for the coin toss, and the damage accumulated.
But I used that opportunity to power up another Scynther and Pinsir. I scooped
up my battling Scynther and wreaked havoc with Pinsir's Guillotine. After
another few turns, this game was
history.
Round
2
Me VS
Jason
Jason had a perculiar deck. I think
its what many people refer to as a Potpourri or something. Its actually the
first time i have seen and played against such a deck. I started with a Scynther
and Articuno,1 Grass energy, 1 Water energy, 2 Double colourless energy and a
Energy removal. He had a full bench of pokemon. I can't remember all of them,
but I think he had abras, magmars, farfetcheds, Jinxs and seels. This one was a
breeze, hehe. He could not get the right type of energy and before he knew it,
it was game set and match in 10
minutes.
Round
3
The
Final
Me Vs
Kenneth
This one was a toughie. It was much
more difficult than the first 2.Way tougher. Kenneth was our best player, but i
managed to beat him for his crown! But it was tough as hell. He usually uses
either a haymaker,or his favourite RainDance Deck.hoever, it was a Wigglytuff
Do-The-Wave Deck. He had a full bench, and by his third turn, he was already
doing the wave.I managed to draw an Articuno and Clefairy, and powered them up
while my Scynthers received the beating of a lifetime. I was scooping up all mi
scynthers and when the time was right, I sent out my Articuno. Wigglytuff was
history, but he had another one on the bench. He did the wave again, so I
retreated my Articuno and sent out Clefairy. I metronomed, did the wave and got
Clefairy knocked out in the next turn. I later sent out my Scynther again to
finish off Wigglytuff, retreated it and sent out Articuno to wreak havoc on the
bench. It was smooth-sailing from then
on.
Thank you for reading this deck
report. I hope you will find it useful. I named it the Tech Deck is because I
believe that no matter how fancy or modern a new deck is, a plain simple deck
that focuses on the startegy of a strong attack and strong defense with quick
transition and technique is ultimately better. This is what I truly believe in,
thats why Chris Benoit is my favourite wrestler(Lol). This deck is the one that
I find which truly fits the idea. Nothing fancy, just plain technique and
determination to win.For those of you out there who feel despaired because you
have not won a match so far, do not give up.Keep your head up and continue to
battle the way you think it should be.Learn from your mistakes and accept
constructive criticism. Succes will ultimately come to those who put in effort.
Peace!
