Sent: Wednesday, June 15, 2005 9:14 PM Retro Tournament - Bailey's Comics - Lindenhurst, NY 15 people
These retro tournaments are becoming popular in my area. The only rule was that we could only use cards from Base Set to Team Rocket. I decided to break out my old deck (don't ask about the name):
The Professor's Broccolli feat. the Curious Oyster Pokemon: 11 4 Electabuzz (aka: Buzz) 4 Mr. Mime 2 Ditto 1 Chansey Energy: 16 5 Electric 5 Psychic 4 DDE 2 Full Heal Trainers: 33 4 Comp. Search 4 PlusPower 4 Gust of Wind 4 Energy Removal 3 Switch 3 Prof. Oak 3 Item Finder 2 Lass 2 Scoop Up 2 Super Energy Removal 2 Nightly Garbage Run
Round 1 The Professor's Broccolli feat. the Curious Oyster vs. Boy w/ Random Crap Hahaha its always fun facing these kinds of kids. I started with a Buzz and a benched Fairy. He had a Tauros active with a benched Horsea and a benched Pikachu. It was easy, he never got one evolution, so I just beat down his Tauros and Pikachus and Horseas and Oddishs. The list goes on and on, but I just collected all of my prizes. Blah.
Round 2 The Professor's Broccolli feat. the Curious Oyster vs. Boy w/ Exeggutor/Venusaur I've played against my friend's old Exeggutor deck and they can either be really horrible or really good, depending on what they can pull from the deck. This kid was pretty good. He used Venusaur's Energy Trans, and his main attacher was of course Exeggutor, with some Scythers thrown in. He started with a Scyther and a benched Bulbasaur. I had a lone Ditto out.The beginning went pretty slow. I got a Buzz grabed a few prizes quick, and then he got out a Venusaur and an Exeggutor and started to beat the hell outta me. Pretty soon I got out a Mr. Mime and he was pretty useful because of his Pokemon Power. and loaded my Ditto with DCE's and started to gust out Venusaurs and use their Solarbeam and grabbed the rest of my prizes.
Round 3 The Professor's Broccolli feat. the Curious Oyster vs. Girl w/ Potpourri I haven't seen one of these in ages, and they're usually fun to play against. Except this time. He had a lone Kangaskhan out and I had a Mr. Mime out. He couldn't seem to get anything good in his hand, so I just killed his Kanga in a few turns with Mimey.
Final Round The Professor's Broccolli feat. the Curious Oyster vs. Girl w/ Raindance Buzz and Mimey totally killed this deck. Chansey came in handy too. Oh how I love weakness to electricity.
:D Yay I won. I got 50 bucks store credit, so I bought a couple of mangas and saved the rest.
