I've heard a lot of people saying that evolution is dead
now that
Aerodactyl is out, and that Damage Swap and Raindance are completely
destroyed because of Muk. In my opinion, these cards are overrated and
will
not affect decks with a few Stage 1s at all. Power decks and heavy
evolution
decks may be affected, but there's a simple way to counter this.
In order for heavy evolution decks to survive, they'll all
need Scyther
and a few Gust of Wind. If you want to take out the Mysterious Fossil
before
Aerodactyl can do harm, just Gust of Wind and strike. If your opponent's
dumb enough to evolve into Aerodactyl when Scyther is present, Gust of Wind
and slash for the easy prize. Aerodactyl is simply too fragile to stand
much
of a chance, and takes up a hefty amount of spaces in most decks.
Power decks WILL be hurt by Muk. Grimer has 50HP and
nice defensive
moves, so taking it out before it evolves will be hard. Damage Swap will
need energy to stand a chance, and a Jynx. Gust of Wind out Grimer or Muk
when you get the chance, Slap it a few times and Meditate for the kill.
For
Raindance decks, it's a little harder to pull off the kill, but still
possible, and not too important either. Turn 2 Blastoise will be the way
to
go. If Muk comes out, it shouldn't take too long to power Gyarados or
Dewgong and kill. When Muk is out of the picture temporarily, Blastoise
should have no problem getting things back on track.
Overall, Muk is a pretty good card and Aerodactyl is decent.
But they
won't wreck things like people predicted and Haymaker won't be king. I'll
take a Turn 2 Blastoise deck over Haymaker any day of the week.
