Hey, Pojo, please post this in your TCG Single Card Stratigies section.
Thanx!
I was sitting thinking of what cards to put in my third japanese deck, and
noticed that many of the most popular american cards like Hitmonchan and Oak
have better (or worse) cards to replace them in the coming sets. Anyway, I
thought I would submit an article to thepojo.com(my fav), and, well, here -
Hitmonchan - I thought I would start things off with Hitmonchan, a very common
Haymaker card. His counterpart, Hitmonlee is in fossil, and has some
interesting attacks. Lets look at his stats, shall we?
Sawamura (Hitmonlee)
HP - 60 (that sux)
Weakness - Psy
Retreat - one
(FF) Stretching Kick
Select one of your opponents s benched pokemon and deal it 20 damage, no matter
it s weakness or resistance is. If opponent has no benched pokemon, attack will
have no effect.
(FFF) Jump Kick - 50
In my oppinion, he is not really better of worse, just different from
Hitmonchan. We also have a Hitmonchan coming up in Gym One -
Team Rocket s Ebiwarah (Team Rocket s Hitmonchan)
HP - 60 (that sux)
Weakness - Psy
Retreat - one
(F) Cross Counter
When this card takes damage during opponents next turn, flip a coin (even if
Team Rocket s Hitmonchan is KO ed). If heads, give opponent twice the damage
that this card took.
(FFC) Magnum Punch - 50
Cross-counter is good against guys like gyrados and dewgong. All in all, I
think all of these cards will show up in future haymakers.
Professer Oak -
We all know professer oak is the best card drawer currently. I just have one
card to compare. It is in the Challenge of the Darkness (Gym 2) set, namely
Sabrina s deck. The card is called Sabrina s Eye -
Sabrina s Eye
Each player must count the number of cards in his or her hand and then place
them into his or her deck. Then each player much shuffle, and draw the same
amount of cards and use them as his or her hand.
Sabrina s Eye almost works in a reverse strategy of Prof Oak. When using Oak,
the idea is to get as many cards out of your hand, then oak (like in a
raindance deck). But with Sabrina s Eye, keep those extras because you will
just draw them again, and you can draw more cards. And you don t have to worry
about discarding that Blastoise or Alakazam that you have been trying to get
out for a while.
Charizard (had to do it sometime) -
Ok, there are two more Charizards coming up. I personially don't like
them,
but let's see what you think -
Bad Lizardon (Bad Charizard)
HP - 80 (80!!!, THAT SUX!!!)
Weakness - Water
Resistance - Fighting
Retreat - three
(C) Fingernail Flick - 10
(RR)Continual Fireball - 50x
Toss one coin for each Fire Energy attacked to Bad Charizard. Damage equals
number of heads times 50. Remove the same number of Fire Energy from Bad
Charizard and discard them.
Blaine s Lizardon (Blaine s Charizard)
HP - 100
Weakness - Water
Resistance - Fighting
Retreat - three
(R) Fireball
If Blaine s Charizard has more Fire Energy than necessary to use this power,
discard all extra and add an aditional 20 damage for each.
(RR) Blaze Fly
Flip a coin. If heads, select one of your opponents pokemon and give it 40
damage.
Mr. Mime -
You thought he was one of a kind, but you were wrong. And the pokemon like him
..Dratini (?!?!?!). Yep, believe it or not Dratini! In Gym one. This guy isn t
exactly as good as Mr. Mime, but let s look at the stats - (bye the way, all of
the other Mr. Mimes suck)
Erika s Dratini
HP - 40
Resistance - Psychic
Retreat - one
PKMN Power - Mysterious Barrier
If this card takes damage more than 20 from an opponents Basic Pokemon, it will
be reduced to 10 damage.
(CC) Tail Attack - 10+
Flip a coin. If heads, attack does an aditional 20 damage. If tails, attack
does ten damage.
What really sux about him is his attack and the fact that the damage isn t
prevented, it is reduced to 10. And it only applies to basic pokemon, too.
Gust of Wind -
Ahh, now we come on everfaithful GoW. I love this card. Anyway, there is a card
that combines Switch and GoW. Warp Point, in Gym two. It is good when you have
a good pokemon fighting who is almost dying, and your opponent has an aweful
bench. Here is the stats -
Warp Point
Switch both fighting Pokemon with benched pokemon. The benched pokemon will be
chosen by the owner. (The opponent switches first).
Mewtwo -
Most people think that Mewtwo sucks in the first series, but he has worked
wonders for me in the sixth series. He has three attacks, the only pokemon that
does. I like his first attack a lot, though. Just look -
Team Rocket s Mewtwo
HP - 70
Weakness - Psychic
Retreat - Two
(P) Change Damage
Flip a coin. If heads, exchange the amount of damage on the opponents pokemon
and Mewtwo.
(PP) Wave Motion Hypnotisim - 20
Flip a coin. If heads, opponent is asleep.
(PPPC) Psycho Burn - 60
Jynx -
A very good starting pokemon to have, if it is a Jynx from the first series,
that is. Look at series six -
Sabrina s Jynx
HP - 60
Weakness - Psychic
Retreat - One
(P) Sleeping Kiss - 10
Opponent is asleep.
(PC) Wakeup Kiss - 20
Opponent is awake.
There is just one more type of card I would like to address. Stadium cards. You
will see these in the fifth series on. When a stadium card is used, the card
must be placed by the field of battle and stay there until another stadium card
comes into play. Stadium cards add an interesting aspect to the game, and trust
me, they can be annoying if your opponent has any in play. For example, Misty s
Stadium lets Misty s Pokemon retreat for one less energy. Blaine s makes all of
Blaine s Pokemon not weak to water. Sabrina s lets you pick up energy from
Sabrina s Pokemon. And there is some other stadium cards that don t belong to
any Gym Trainers. Like No Energy Removal stadium says that anyone trying to
energy removal must pay two energy to energy remove. Hope you liked my article.
