In the Fossil Series, many Pokemon which control bench
are added. Gengar
is one.
In Gym Leaders edition, which is in Japan, a card
called Erica's Venusaur
is added. I looked it up. It has an attack which deals 20 damage to the
defending Pokemon, and deals 20 damage to two of the opponent's benched
Pokemon. This is controlling. Combine it with Gengar, and you can use it even
better.
Let us suppose that your opponent has three Pokemon
left, and you have
Venusaur out, with Gengar on your bench. The opponent has a Wigglytuff with
seven damage counters on it, and they have two Abras on the bench, one with a
damage counter. First, you can move a damage counter from their Wigglytuff to
their full-health Abra. Now, each of the opponents Pokemon has 20 HP left.
Now, use Erica's Venusaur's attack, and the Wigglytuff with six damage
counters dies, and the benched Abra's are chosen to receive two damage
counters each. That is a triple kill! Just by bench control!
If you do not have Erica's Venusaur, but possess
Gengar, then use Raichu,
Zapdos, Hypno, Pikachu (Jungle). These are Bench controllers. After all,
Erica's Venusaur is no match for the Base Set one.
