Mmm, yes, Brocks Ninetales is looking pretty good. But
the one that I like the most is Blaine's Ninetales.
Taken from a spoiler I found somewhere:
POKÉMON NO.: 038
TYPE: FIRE
EVOULTION: STAGE 1 - FROM BLAINE'S VULPIX
NAME: BLAINE'S NINETALES
LEVEL: 27
HP: 60
WEAKNESS: WATER
RESISTANCE: NONE
RETREAT COST: 2
ATTACKS:
POWER: BLAZE RECOVERY:
FOR EACH FIRE ENERGY CARD ATTACHED TO THIS POKÉMON,
REMOVE 1 DAMAGE COUNTER FROM THIS POKÉMON. THIS POWER
CAN'T BE USED IF THIS POKÉMON IS ASLEEP, PARALYZED OR
CONFUSED.
[RR] ANNOYING HEAT (50)
FLIP A COIN. IF TAILS, DISCARD 1 FIRE ENERGY CARD
ATTACHED TO THIS POKÉMON.
Now, I don't think this spoiler is exactly correct.
For one thing, I've heard from other sources (and it
makes more sense) that on a tails flip, you have to
discard BOTH energy cards. But 50 damage for 2 fire
and only a CHANCE of discarding?? That's still a
bargain...since it takes half Charizard's energy and
does half the damage, effectively it's like flipping a
coin on Charizard to see if you have to discard.
One other thing that's still up in the air is the
Power. I can't figure out from any of the spoilers if
the power allows you to (once per turn) remove 1
damage counter for each fire energy ON Ninetales...or
if it just means you can remove a counter when you lay
an energy. Someone want to help me out here?
BTW, one of Blaine's Vulpixes does 10 for one
colorless energy. So you can drop a Vulpix, lay an
energy, 10. Next turn, evolve, lay another energy,
heal (for either 10 or 20, depending on what the power
really does) and then 50! That's 60 damage the first 2
turns! And you could potentially do 50 each turn
thereafter. Even if you flip a few tails, you can use
the Blaine trainer--which, if I'm not mistaken, allows
you to attach 2 fire energy to one of Blaine's Pokemon
on a turn, instead of just 1.
Blaine's Arcanine is also going to kick ass. Everyone
says he's just the next Charizard, but he needn't be.
Speaking of Charizard, Kaz, your comment that Brock's
Ninetales is better than the big lizard is certainly
valid...but a bit of a no-brainer. Very few Pokemon
are worse than Charizard.
And yes, I do own the japanese cards, and yes, I am
going to be building some killer decks when Gym comes
out.
