I'm here to talk about the trainer Plus power, which alot of people overlook.
I have seen a ton of haymakers without it, and here's 3 reasons to use it:
1. You deal extra damage. Killing off Pokemon faster means your opponent
has
less time to add energy to his/her Pokemon.
2. You throw off your opponent all out of whack. It destroys their
gameplan a
nd gives you the edge.
3. In high card-drawing decks, plus power can help you kill off Pokemon 1
turn faster. When this adds up, you deck yourself less because you win 3-6
turns earlier. How many times have you been just a couple (or one) turns
away from winning when you decked yourself? Plus power could have helped
you
win those games.
Here's some good decks to use Plus power in:
Haymakers
turbo-Haymakers (or InSaNiTy)
Viagra decks (turbo Wigglytuff)
Raindance decks
Alot of people don't realize that putting in plus powers in Raindance decks
and Viagra decks, which can do 60 damage by turn 2, can help you KO strong
basic Pokemon (with 70 HP) by turn 2. Alot of times that might be the only
basic Pokemon your opponent has played so far, so you would have a first turn
win.
Decks not to put Plus power in:
Stall decks
Decks that stall or deal cheap damage until they get a bigger Pokemon powered
(usually Arcanine or Ninetails, but sometimes others like Zapdos)
Stall decks, when made right, don't need to attack. Usually they have some
energy and end up attacking, but that's not their main theme. You don't
need
plus power because you want to deck your opponent, not draw your 6 prizes.
In the other type of deck I referred to, (known as "Cleaners") don't
need
them because when they try to buy time in the beginning, they are basically
stalling until they build up a bigger Pokemon. No need to deal bigger
damage. In later game when the big Pokemon with alot of energy comes out,
it
usually deals so much damage it blows your opponent's Pokemon away.
