Hey Pojo its SycO again with another card evaluation.
When I bought my first Theme Deck an Overgrowth to find Weedle,
I thought what a crummy Pokemon buts its actually good along with Kakuna and
Beedrill.
Lets take a look at their stats.
Weedle
40hp (ok I guess)
grass type weak to fire (not good)
retreat cost 1 (ok)
attacks: [G] poison Sting: Flip a coin if head the defending
Pokemon is poisoned. 10
Now Poison sting can poison early and since it stays there
unless (full heal, evolve or retreat) it can be deadly. 20 damage if you get
heads.
Kakuna
80hp (great)
weak to fire (not good)
retreat cost 2 (bit high)
attacks: [c][c] stiffen: flip a coin if head prevent all damage
done to Kakuna during your opponents next turn. other effects still happen.
[g][g] Poison Powder: Flip a coin, heads defending Pokemon is
poisoned.
Again can Poison, 2 energy (grass) for 30 damage (plus poison).
80hp a huge jump from 40hp and can stall with stiffen. Weak to fire not good,
but its a great card.
Beedrill
80hp (no difference from kakuna)
weak to fire (not good)
resistance to fighting (excellent...too bad hitmonchan)
retreat cost none (excellent)
attacks: [c][c][c] Twineedle, flip 2 coins, does 30x number of
heads.
[g][g][g] Poison Sting: Flip a coin if heads the defending
Pokemon is poisoned. 40 damage.
This is a GREAT card, 80hp lets it down but, resistance to
fighting..hitmonchan too bad, retreat cost for FREE! so you need to retreat
active Pokemon but no switch or energy, kakuna out no energy evolve to
beedrill retreat boom, turns the game around(not really). attacks are heavy
hitting, twin needle 3 colorless energy to do max of 60 damage! and
3 grass energy to do Poison sting which does 40 damage plus poison 50
damage. So OVERALL the weedle line is a POISON Machine, all forms can poison
meaning your opponent will be switching and evolving more quiclky to get rid
of Poison and beedrill can do hefty damage. So making a grass deck with
venusaur? add these guys in to make beedrill heaps quicker and do lots of
damage.
