Hey there Pojo fans.

This article is to compare two very similar pokémon, Alakazam and Gengar.

The first thing many people look at when comparing cards is the pokémon's
HP (Hit Point). Alakazam and Gengar both have 80 HP. For now, both of
these pokémon are equal.

Next, let's take a look at their PP (Pokémon Power) since that is why
most people use these cards in the first place. Alakazam's PP allows it
to move damage counters between your pokémon, making a good defensive
power. Gengar's PP allows it to move one damage counter between your
opponents pokémon, making a good offensive power. To really determine
whose PP is better is very difficult as they are all used for different
strategies (Alakazam's PP is for stalling and Gengar's HP is to take out
weak pokémon on the bench) and by combining it with other cards (Alakazam
with Mr. Mime and Gengar with Fossil Zapdos/Fossil Raichu) can make the
PP even more powerful. Once again, it's a tie.

Third, let's take a good look at their one attack. Alakazam's Confuse Ray
requires PPP, causes 30 HP damage and it makes you opponent confused if
you flip a coin and get heads. Gengar's Dark Mind also requires PPP, also
causes 30 HP damage, but instead of confusing your opponents pokémon, it
does 10 HP damage to one benched pokémon. Both attacks are pretty good
and once again it is very difficult to tell which pokémon has the better
attack since they are both used for different strategies (Alakazam's
attack confuses the opponent to stall a bit more while causing damage and
Gengar's attack hurts the bench and teamed with it's PP can either hurt
the bench or active pokémon even more by moving a damage counter to it).
For the third time, it a tie.

Finally, let's take a look at the smaller things like Weakness,
Resistance, and Retreat Cost. Alakazam falls behind since it's weak to
other psychic pokémon unlike Gengar who has no Weakness. With no
Resistance for Alakazam, it falls even further back since Gengar has
Resistance to fighting pokémon. Three Retreat Cost doesn't help Alakazam
a bit especially if Gengar has only one Retreat Cost. In a comparison of
Weakness, Resistance and Retreat Cost, Gengar wins all three.

Overall, Gengar is the better pokémon. Although their HP, PP, and attacks
were pretty much even, it's the small things that make Gengar the better
pokémon. The only time I would use Alakazam is if I were to make a stall
deck/damage swap deck.
