Aerodactyl 13,

Although I do agree that venonat can potentially be devastating...he
does have a couple of weaknesses that keep him from me calling him "the
best grass pokemon".

1) switch...  even if you poison and confuse your opponent and shift for
10 more, your opponent can play switch to bring out another to fight.

2) and worse yet is......... venomoth HIMSELF!

I'll give an example...  you are playing a water/grass deck against an
equal fire/electric deck  you have Venomoth out and powered while he has
charmeleon out powered to do flamethrower.  You have Blastoise on the
bench and also Dewgong (but are lacking energy to power them up fully).
Your opponent has ponyta and electabuzz on the bench with only one
energy each.  Your turn!  You shift to make venomoth as per water
(because you would be roasted by flamethrower on his turn and you want
the extra damage to charmeleon)  You do 20 dam and you get lucky with
the flip!  Now charmeleon is poth poisoned and confused and takes 10 dam
more.  His turn, he picks up, then plays switch and brings out
electabuzz, sticks an energy (even double coulorless if he has it) and
then thunderpunch's for 30+ 10 (because he got lucky too) BUT WAIT!
Venomoth shifted to water (that of Blastoise or Dewgong) take your pick
because they are both weak to electricity.  Now I'm not sure of this but
I believe that whoever you choose in play to shift to... that includes
weakness as well!  So now Venomoth is gonso from now 80 damage and you
have to play energy depleated Dewgong or Blastoise to combat a fully
powered electabuzz.    OUCH!

Venomoth can be deadly, but also to himself!
