Welcome, again!
This is the second Single Card Tip that I've posted. Enjoy!
So, you want
to learn about the Jungle Pikachu, eh? Yeah, I thought so. Let's start off
with Pikachu's basic stats…
STATS:
Name: Jungle Pikachu
Basic Pokemon
HP: 50
Type: Electric
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: None (Dang, there should be a resistance against water!)
Retreat Cost: 1 coloresss (pretty good, if you ask me)
ATTACKS:
LL: Spark- If your opponent has any Benched Pokemon, choose one of them and
this attack does 10 damage to it. (Don't apply weakness and resistance for
Benched Pokemon.)
WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT HIM?
- Create chaos on your opponent's bench by doing 10 damage to a
bench
Pokemon. By the time that Pokemon gets out into play, it'll only have partial
HP remaining. Let's just hope that your opponent didn't save any super
potions…
- Retreat cost for Pikachu is only one colorless! With a Dodrio on
the
bench, he'll retreat for free.
- Not only can you damage your opponent's benched Pokemon, spark
does 20
damage to their active Pokemon. Remember Hitmonlee? His stretch kick can only
damage benched Pokemon. With Pikachu's Spark attack, you can damage both the
active and benched Pokemon!
- 50 HP is okay. It's nothing to brag about, but at least he won't
get
Knocked Out (KO'd) in one hit- unless his opponent happens to be a Hitmonchan.
- Easy to find…(Maybe too easy?)
- He's better than the Base Set Pikachu. (Way better) Better HP,
attacks,
etc.
- Oh, and he's cute, too…
WHAT'S BAD ABOUT HIM?
- Pikachu's fighting weakness will make him vulnerable to Haymaker
decks.
(Darn!)
- It takes 2 energy to do his only attack (Isn't that a little
high?)
- Com'on! Where's the variety, here?!? I personally like Pokemon
that have
at least two attacks, rather than one…
- He needs two ELECTRIC energy. Too bad he can't have at least one
colorless requirement.
TIP TO THE POKEMON MASTER-IN-TRAINING:
Pikachu needs to sit on the bench for a while before he's let
out. Charge
him up with his two electric energies, before you do anything. This card is
one of those that can only fight for so long. After a few hits, he's a goner.
If you put a lot of Potions/Super Potions in your deck, maybe you can spare
one on him. If not, don't bother. Why waste precious potions on a common
card? Save it for your Hitmonchan…or better yet, let Pikachu fight, and then
retreat him.
Note: Pikachu is really weak against any fighting Pokemon.
This means
that he's not good against a Haymaker (duh). And don't bother putting him in
a rainbow deck, or a deck with multiple energy types. Pikachu needs electric
energy…and only that type of energy. Rainbow decks will cause you to have
less of a chance to draw those energies.
DRUMROLL, PLEASE!
So, our decision is that the Jungle Pikachu is pretty good as a common
Pokemon. His attacks are a 2 for 1 deal, and he's really easy to "pull from
packs." My advice: I prefer Electabuzz to Pikachu…
