Hi Pojo and all readers,
I want to talk about two Pokemon that may not catch your eye
when you
casually glance over them but turn out to be very useful and can really get
on your nerves when playing against them. I obviously am talking about
Zubat
and Golbat (Well obviously because this is in the Zubat/Golbat section).
Well, back on subject, these Pokemon are special in their own ways. Let's
look at the stats of Zubat first:
Zubat
Leaf Pokemon 40 HP
2 Colorless: Supersonic- Flip a cpin, if heads, the Defending Pokemon is
confused.
1 Leaf and 1 Colorless:Leech Life (Damage 10)- Remove a number of damage
counters from Zubat equal to the damage done to the Defending Pokemon (after
applying weakness and resistance). If Zubat has fewer damage counters than
that, remove all of them.
Weakness: Psychic
Resistance: Fighting -30
Retreat Cost: Free
Rarity: Common
Zubat isn't a bad common card and fits well in the Grass type
decks since
confusion is always welcomed. Zubat can also be great on the first turn
either by Double Colorless Energy or Zubat's free retreat cost which will
bring him back without wasting any energy cards. Leech life can be ok too
but I really wish Zubat had higher HP like 50 but I guess 40 will do.
Weakness to Psychic instead of the usual fire also helps for Grass decks
plus Resistance to the ever popular Haymaker and Hitmonchans.
Golbat
Leaf Pokemon
60 HP
3 Colorless: Wing Attack (Damage 30)
2 Leaf and One Colorless: Leech Life (Damage 20)- Remove a number of damage
counters from Golbat equal to the damage done to the Defending Pokemon (after
applying weakness and resistance). If Golbat has fewer damage counters
than
that, remove all of them.
Weakness: Psychic
Resistance: Fighting -30
Retreat Cost: Free
Rarity: Uncommon
Golbat has great features that are also great in the leaf
decks. I never
noticed Golbat's power until my brother and I tryed out the Fossil decks for
kicks. When I used Lockdown and he used Bodyguard, he got out Golbat.
It
took me forever to knock out this Pokemon, and once I did, to my fear, here
comes another Golbat. Anyway, Golbat teamed up with a few potions makes
this
one tough Pokemon to beat. He maintains his free retreat when Golbat gets
in
trouble, just retreat him out of the situation. Wing attack is just like
Scyther's slash and when teamed up with Scyther, this is one great team.
But
Golbat does have some downsides... he only has 60 HP so you really must get
Leech Life working well as soon as possible to keep him from being KO'd.
So
overall... I think Golbat is a Pokemon that should get more attention and I
am seriously considering giving this line some spots in my Leaf Deck.
Thanks for reading!
