Hi, my name is Chris and I would like to talk about the strategy behind 3 of
my favorite Pokemon. First lets examine the cards---
Jolteon--Evolves from Eevee
70 Hp
CC: Quick attack, 10 damage, flip a coin, if heads this attack does 10 damage
plus 20 more damage, if tails this attack does 10 damage.
LLC: Pin Missile 20x, Flip 4 coins. This attack does 20 damage times the
number of heads.
Weakness: Fighting Resistance: None Retreat: 1
Im not gonna say much until the end. Lets look at the next one:
Flareon: Evolves from Eevee 70 hp
CC: Quick attack, 10 damage, flip a coin, if heads this attack does 10 damage
plus 20 more damage, if tails this attack does 10 damage.
FFCC: Flamethrower, 60 damage, Discard 1 Fire Energy card attached to
Flareon in order to use this attack.
Weakness: Water Resistance: None Retreat: 1
And last but not least (and my personal favorite!)
Vaporeon--Evolves from Eevee 80 hp
CC: Quick attack, 10 damage, flip a coin, if heads this attack does 10 damage
plus 20 more damage, if tails this attack does 10 damage.
WWC: Water Gun, Does 30 damage plus 10 more damage for each Water Energy
attached to Vaporeon but not used to pay for this attack's Energy cost.
Extra Water Energy after the 2nd doesn't count.
Weakness: Electric Resistance: None Retreat: 1
Ok here we go, First of all Quick attack is an ok attack but especially on
Flareon since Flamethrower costs 2 colorless and 2 fire. Flareon is a good
addition to a mono-fire deck but not quite as good as Ninetales (or Promo
Arcanine for that matter). Jolteon is not all that useful either, a little
better than Kangaskhan (Pin missile only costs three), but would work well in
an electric deck with Base Raichu and Electabuzz. Now Vaporeon is a little
better in Hp but lacks attack power, easily replaced in a Turbo Blastoise
deck by a Gyarados or even a Dewgong. Now for all of them the 1 colorless
retreat cost is very helpful but all three have weaknesses.
Combos:
Flareon + Double Colorless--Three turns for 60 damage (not bad)
Promo Eevee + any of them in a deck--instant evolution
Now I have been trying to think of a deck that can incorporate all three of
theese Pokemon, I came up with a deck using the idea of Devolution Spray
(uurrgggg, I shudder just thinking about that card, but it does come in
handy), unfortunately they are very slow Pokemon in a game that is based on
speed. Maybe I will switch them with some Dark Jolteon, Dark Vaporeon, and
Dark Flareons because these pokemon have quicker attacks.
