Oh. Look everyone. Scyther stinks now. News to me.<rolls eyes> *sigh*
Okay,
enough sarcasm...here's why Scyther doesn't stink.
1)He's a BASIC...unlike Charmeleon.
2)He has NO RETREAT COST...unlike Charmeleon.
3)Although you don't think so, Scyther can very easily do 60 damage on turn
two It's not _that_ hard.
4)RESISTANCE TO SOMETHING(fighting)...unlike Charmeleon. The ever-popular
Hitmonchan is virtually useless against a Scyther, while it has a very good
chance to eat a Charmeleon alive
Now, you ask why we would want to retreat someone if he is a good
fighter...well, let's see...Scyther is getting beat up. Do you want to give
your opponent a prize?? No! Retreat it...FOR FREE...and get the heck on with
the game!!
Use a colorless Pokemon? Okay, show me where I can get a colorless pokemon
with 30 damage slash attack, 70hp, resistance to fighting, and a free
retreat, and I will.
Charmeleon is better?? Okay, see...now I am angry...
HELLO? PEOPLE, WHEN YOU WRITE A SINGLE CARD STRATEGY/TCG PLAYING TIP, IT'S
A GOOD IDEA NOT TO DISS GREAT CARDS!!
Let me explain something...Scyther is the greatest thing to happened to
speed decks in a long time. Nothing like it has happened since Jungle
appeared. He's fast, and yes, he CAN do 60 damage on turn two. Sounds pretty
good to me.
I'd suggest going back into the Single Card archives--way back to June
1999--and seeing how popular Scyther is. THAT should give you a clue about
the usefulness of this card.
