Let’s take a good look at...
JUNGLE EEVEE (and his evolutions)
Jungle Eevee
50 HP
Basic Pokemon
Type: Colorless
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: Psychic
Retreat: C
Rarity: Common
Tail Wag-C: Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokemon can’t attack Eevee
during your
opponent’s next turn. (Benching either Pokemon ends this effect.)
Quick Attack-CC: 10+ damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10
damage plus 20
damage; if tails, this attack does 10 damage.
Not much to say because this card is unbelievable common. So I’m guessing
that most of
you poke-people have at least one. But anyway, this card is okay, because you
can
prepare for Quick Attack by stalling with Tail Wag. Let’s just say that I’ve
seen worse
and I don’t think that anyone would want to waste a Gust of Wind at the
beginning of the
game. And if it’s not the beginning, you should have powered it up already
anyway. Next.
Jungle Vaporeon
80 HP
Stage 1- Evolves from Eevee
Type: Water
Weakness: Electric
Resistance: None
Retreat: C
Rarity: Rare
Quick Attack-CC: 10+ damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10
damage plus 20
damage; if tails, this attack does 10 damage.
Water Gun-WWC: 30+ damage. Does 30 damage plus 10 more damage for each Water
Energy attached to Vaporeon but not used to pay for this attack’s Energy
cost. Extra
Water Energy after the 2nd doesn’t count.
Well, We’ll discuss this more later because I really want to compare all of
those Eevee
evolutions.
Jungle Jolteon
70 HP
Stage 1- Evolves from Eevee
Type: Electric
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: None
Retreat: C
Rarity: Rare
Quick Attack-CC: 10 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10 damage
plus 20
damage; if tails, this attack does 10 damage.
Pin Missile-LLC: 20x damage. Flip 4 coins. This attack does 20 damage times
the
number of heads.
No chatting now. Let’s proceed
Jungle Flareon
70 HP
Stage 1- Evolves from Eevee
Type: Fire
Weakness: Water
Resistance: None
Retreat: C
Rarity: Rare
Quick Attack-CC: 10+ damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10
damage plus 20
damage; if tails, this attack does 10 damage.
Flamethrower-FFCC: 60 damage. Discard 1 Fire Energy card attached to Flareon
in order
to use this attack.
Okay, let’s discuss this trio of cool-looking but bland pokemon. First, all
of these moves
are really boring and not too special. Why? One, there are no Pokemon Powers,
which
make Blastoise and Venusaur and Alakazam and both Muks what they are. Quick
Attack
is an extremely unexciting attack, because it just evens out to 20 damage,
like Jungle
Jigglypuff, or even more like Jungle Eevee. Water Gun is moderately good,
because it
can be used in one of those Rain Dance decks, even if Blastoise’s Hydro Pump
is better.
Pin Missile is okay, I mean, it averages out to 40 damage, which is like
Movie Mewtwo’s
Psyburn, but Jolteon is just a coin flipping mess, with less HP than Vaporeon
and attacks
which are not too special. Just to compare to Dark Jolteon, it has 20 more
HP, making
Dark Jolteon only 50 pitiful HP. But Dark Jolteon’s first attack is just like
Base
Sandshrew’s Sand Attack, except that you need a Lightning energy and IT DOES
20
DAMAGE INSTEAD OF 10. That is a marvelous attack, proving even better than
Hitmonchan’s Jab, for example. The point is that Dark Jolteon’s first attack
sort of
paralyzes which will slow down the unavoidable KO. Unfortunately, NONE, that
is
N-O-N-E of the Eevee evolutions have any kind of attack that has a special
effect. All are
just boring moves that do damage, and that is it, as in I-T. Flamethrower is
just one of
those energy discarding attacks that could be good if you didn’t have to
discard an
energy. For example, everyone comments about how good Kadabra’s Super Psy is,
and
lately, Dark Golduck’s Super Psy. (I think that’s what it’s called.) Well,
Base
Charmeleon has Flamethrower, and so does Base Magmar, and it does 50 damage,
and
the energy requirements are the same (except that those Psychics should be
turned into
Fire energies), but because you have to discard an energy, Charmeleon and
Magmar have
sort of lost their touch. (Well, Magmar is still okay because it is a basic
Pokemon.)
Flareon’s Flamethrower is just 10 more damage along with another colorless
energy. So
there you have it; all of the Jungle Eevee evolutions.
Combos:
Vaporeon + Rain Dance Deck = An instant Vaporeon doing 50 damage!
Now really, that’s all I can think of, because none of these Pokemon have
special powers
that can really make a good combo. There’s no strategy to them, just attack,
sort of like a
Haymaker Pokemon. But nowadays, you’ve GOTTA have a combo for a really strong
deck.
Grades:
Eevee: C+ (Hey, it’s got a little stall before attacking)
Vaporeon: A- (Not too shabby)
Jolteon: B (Looks can be deceiving)
Flareon: B (Once again, Looks can be deceiving)
