Whether Man here! Now, for those who care...
Mewtwo: For those
who are a serious minority of the population...
Whether Man: There
was a CD released in Japan called the Best Collection. This CD was a famous
one among the PKMN TCG Community because it not only was a Pokemon Soundtrack,
but it contained TEN PROMO CARDS!!!!!
Mewtwo: But that's
not going to happen here. Wizards isn't stupid. We need to take all the Promos
and release them one by one as promotions for different marketing skams and
make a lot of money. See? I'm getting the hang of this.
Whether Man: Four
of them; NP Mewtwo, Promo Arcanine, Cool Porygon, and Computer Error; have
already been released. But that leaves 6 more to go. And we decided to share a
little info and put some spoilers and our two cents on them in a nice little
package for your convenience...
Hungry Snorlax HP:
100
C:
Snacktime
If this card has less than two food
counters on it, place a food counter
on this card.
CCC: Body Slam
20+
Remove all food counters attached
to this card. For each food counter
removed in this way, add 30 damage
to this attack.
Weakness: Fighting Resistance: Psychic
Retreat: 4
The ability to do 80 damage for 3 energy is quite impressive. However,
you would have had to use Snacktime for, at least, the past 2 turns in order
to do that kind of damage. That's at least 2 turns of being defenseless. In a
Haymaker-dominated environment, that is suicide. You can always do 50 damage
with that attack, but then 50 damage every other turn isn't too good. Plus, ER
is a major element against you. His 100 HP does a fairly good job of covering
for his weaknesses, but then again, if he does get damaged, retreat isn't
exactly an option.
Super Energy Retrieval
Discard two other cards from your
hand in order to take 4 basic energy
cards from your discard pile and put them
in your hand.
SWEET! This is a long anticipated card! The ability to trade 3 worthless cards
for FOUR energy is really good! This card will be helpful in many situations.
Though you are discarding a lot, you're getting a LOT back.
Blastoise
HP: 100
Pokemon Power: Rain Dance
As often as you like during your turn
(before you attack) you may attach 1
water energy card to one of your water
pokemon. (This doesn't use up your
one energy attachment for the turn) This
power can't be used if Blastoise is
Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.
WWW: Hydro Pump
40+
Does 40 damage plus 10 damage
for each water energy attached to
Blastoise but not used to pay for
this attack. Extra water energy after
the second doesn't count.
Weakness: Lightning Resistance: None
Retreat Cost: 3
I have a feeling this card will do
pretty well in the tourney environment. His Pokemon Power rocks! Conjoined
with Articuno, Lapras, Gyarados, and Dark Blastoise, this card could have
possibilities. Okay. I know. A deck based around Blastoise will never work. It
will never become a popular archetype!
I've
always wanted to do that! :-) By the way, the card
is the same Blastoise, but with different artwork. This goes the same with the
Charizard and Venusaur promos that are from the CD. They also are the same,
but with alternate art.
Mew
HP: 50
C: Pound
10
P: Mimic
Choose one of the defending
pokemon's attacks. Mimic copies
that attack. If you don't have the
correct energy required for that
attack, you can't use it. If the attack
requires you to do something and
you can't, you can't use the attack.
Weakness: Psychic Resistance: None
Retreat Cost: None
What would a major promotion be without Mewtwo and Mew? Unfortunately, I think
Mew got screwed by the system here. Ungh. Not too good. All other stats are
fine, but Mimic destroyed it. Mimic isn't good enough of an attack, since it
is very unreliable. Plus, it gives you too many requirements. At least
Clefairy got you around the requirements, and Ditto gave you the power to make
the energy rainbow. But then again, it is for only one energy, so I'm not
going to compare them. Mew does do well against Mime, so if you're using it as
a splash card against Mime, it works. Also, if you have a Psychic deck, it
works as a metagame against Psychic decks and allows you to use the attacks of
your opponent's pokemon against them. Those are the only situations where Mew
would work, or at least the only ones of the top of my head. There are
probably going to be a LOT of FAQ's on Mew, you can bet on that!
Alright! It's over! YES! We're signing off...
