Alright, as you may know, Super Energy Removal (and Computer Search) is
banned in Japan. Yes, you hear me correctly, you can't use SER in tournaments
there. But why was SER banned? Well, Wizards of the Coast has made some very
broken cards in pokemon, for example, Electabuzz, Item Finder, Prof. Oak,
Bill, but many people claim SER is too good and should be banned or
restricted in the U.S. Now, I am coming to the aid of SER because I think it
should be allowed in tournaments. Why? Well, first off, ANYONE CAN USE SER in
their decks. And there are already many cards to deal with it such as:
Psyduck, Dark Vileplume, low energy cost pokemon, and new cards coming out
that make it tougher to use ER and/or SER and other trainers. Now let us keep
in mind that in a way, SER is NOT a one-shot trainer card. You have too
discard an energy too you know! I do admit that I have gotten people very
angry in matches when I use SER, and I have become mad myself.
But I do not think that Wizards of the Coast should start to
ban cards
unless the card is COMPLETELY too good, like a card that just said "draw 5
cards", or "discard any two of energys on your opponent's pokemon of
your
choice." But the real problem with SER is that when usen correctly against
any evolution deck, that deck has been set back two whole turns and in those
next two turns, a Haymaker deck can already smell victory. And if Wizards of
the Coast ever wants to have a pokemon pro tour like Magic, it would not be a
great thought to have about %40 Haymakers there and only about %5 non-copycat
decks.
The point I hope i have gotten across is that SER is a broken
card when
used correctly, but not good enought to be banned. Period. And anyways, I
have full confidence in Wizards of the Coast that they will not ban OR
restrict SER.
I hope this made you think a little bit.
