Hello Pojo. This is a post concerning overlooked cards, pretty long
email
tho. Took me forever to type up. Anyways, here's the first pair:
Meowth and
Persian.
Now, lets take a look at their stats:
Meowth, Basic Pokemon
Colorless
HP: 50
Pay Day: 2 colorless, does 10 plus flip a coin. If heads, you draw a card.
Weakness: Fighting (ICK)
Resistance: Psychic
Retreat: 1
Persian, Stage 1
Colorless
HP: 70
Scratch: 2 Colorless, does 20
Pounce: 3 colorless, does 30 and if Defending Pokemon attacks next turn the
dmg is reduced by 10, benching either Pokemon ends the effect.
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: Psychic
Retreat Cost: None
Okay, so now we'll look more in depth on Meowth.
HP: mediocre
Attack: OK as well, to much of a chance tho.
Weakness: ICK. Weakness to Haymakers, but that's OK.
Resistance: Nice, we're seeing a lot of Gengar these days
Retreat: Again, mediocre
Conclusion: An in the middle card, average.
OK, now let's move on to Persian:
HP: Average as well
1st Attack: OK, I like an attack like that on a colorless Pokemon
2nd Attack: I think this is a great attack. 3 Colorless for less dmg to
Perisan, does 30. Awesome.
Weakness: Hitmonchan again
Resistance: Nice, at least it has resistance
Retreat: C'mon this is a great!! Since when did you notice a Stage 1
having
less retreat cost than it's Basic? This is what makes this card so
versatile
and speedy. Fits into any deck, good starter.
Conclusion: Much better than Meowth, can kill if has enough energy early
on.
Next target: Seel/Dewgong
Seel, Basic
Water type
HP: 60
Attack: Headbutt, 1 water, does 10
Weakness: Lightning
Resistance: None
Retreat: 1
In depth look:
HP: Above average, pretty good
Attack: Okay, there's only one and it isn't all that good. But the Hp
keeps
it alive longer to evolve so that's OK
Weakness: You don't see a lot of electric these days except for Electabuzz.
It's OK
Resistance: I really wish this had resistance. Oh, well
Retreat: average, again
Conclusion: Once again, an average basic
Dewgong, Stage 1
Water type
HP: 80
Aurora Beam: 2 Water, 1 colorless for 50.
Ice Beam: 2 water, 2 colorless for 30 and chance for paralyze.
Weakness: Lightning
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3
Another look:
HP: Very good for a water Stage 1, I mean at least better than Seadra,
Golduck, ECT
1st Attack: This is great. Three enrgy for 50, and no discard unlike fire
types that can do 50 for 3. This is why I like Dewgong so much
2nd Attack: Nothing to brag about, I'd rather take the 1st one. Average.
Weakness: once again, it's an OK weakness to have
Retreat: Same as Gyrados, tho it has less HP so shouldn't be that much.
ICK
Conclusion: Use this line instead of Gyrados, sure Gyrados has more HP but I
mean at least Seel can last a while to evolve, Magicarp stinks.
Next, here comes.....Jigglypuff!! In the rush to evolve, most people
overlook the great Jigglypuff.
Stats:
JIgglypuff, Basic Pokemon
Colorless Type
HP: 60
Lullaby: One colorless, Defending Pokemon is now Asleep
Pound: 2 colorless, does 20
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: psychic
Retreat: 1
So:
HP: Very good
1st Attack: nice, definite sleep. I like that
2nd Attack: Overcosts a little, but good since it can JUST get around that
Mime.
Weakness: OUCH
Resistance: nice
Retreat: Average
Conclusion: Pretty good card, I esp. like it's attacks and HP. Next time
you
start a deck, think about using Jigglypuff. Works in every deck, great
card.
Okay, next we have....MACHOP!!
Machop, Basic Pokemon
HP: 50
Low Kick: 1 Fighting for 20 dmg
Weakness: Psychic
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1
HP: it's OK, nothing to brag about though.
Attack: VERY good. If Machop had more Hp it could be another Hitmonchan.
In
fact, with a Defender it IS a Hitmonchan. I like. ANd unlike Staryu
and
Rattata who can do the same thing, this guy has more lasting power.
Retreat: Average.
Conclusion: USE MACHOP!! Most people don't run this line at all, and if
they
do they odn't pay much attention to poor lil' Machop. Hello, this card has
huge potential.
And for out last card.....DADADDADDDADA!!
Charmeleon
Fire Type
HP: 80
Slash: 3 Colorless, does 30
Flamethrower: 2 Fire, 1 colorless for 50. Have to discard a fire enrgy.
Weakness: Water
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1
HP: Very good for a POkemon yet to evolve. It has more HP than other Stage
1's like Kadabra, in fact it probably has more HP than any other Stage 1 that
can still evolve.
1st Attack: Not bad, a little overcosted but ALL COLORLESS!!
2nd Attack: Good, same as the one on Base Magamr. Pretty nice.
Weakness: Owell, all cards have weaknesses.
Retreat: Not bad for Stage 1, look at Gyrados it has a 3 retreat.
Conclusion: Don't overlook Charmeleon! The Char family can fit into any
deck
due to it's colorless attacks and Charizard's energy burn. Awesome card.
Last Opinon: Also, about CHarizard. So many people out there are bashing
Charizrd. I say, be quiet. So, Blastoise can kill him in one hit
right?
Well, it's a matter of weakness. Electrode can kill Blastoise in one hit.
Tthis has been argued so many times, but I have to get it out: Charizard is a
good card. Not a god card, not as good as some. But if you use him
right he
can do lots of dmg. It really depends on your deck, Charizard can work.
120
HP, that's great. And unlike some, he has a great Basic and Stage 1 as
well.
Can fit into any deck, attack isn't very lousy either. 120 HP enables it to
live long enough to attack and 100 dmg isn't anything to laugh at either.
Nothing has resistance to it, plus stop dissing it, It's good in it's own
situation. There, that's done with. =)
