Hey Pojo, this is my first article, it's a card
comparison. It takes two
slightly overlooked cards and e'll compare them. So, here we go...
Nidoking
vs. Beedrill!
We'll start with nidoking: Once again... Here we go!
Nidoking
Stage 2, evolves from Nidorino
90 HP
GCC: Thrash 30+ 'Flip a coin, if heads this attack does 30 damage +
10 more
damage, if tails this attack does 30 damage and nidoking does 10 damage to
itself.'
GGG: Toxic 20 'The defending pokemon is now poisoned. The defending
pokemon
now takes 20 poison damage instead of 10 after each players turn.' (Even if
it was already poisoned)
Weakness: Psychic Resistance: [none]
Retreat: CCC
And now... Beedrill!
Beedrill
Stage 2, evolves from Kakuna
80 HP
CCC: Twineedle 30x 'Flip 2 coins, this attack does 30 damage times the number
of heads.'
GGG: Poison Sting 40 'Flip a coin, if heads the defending pokemon is now
poisoned'
Weakness: Fire Resistance: Fighting -30
Retreat Cost: [free]
First of all, they are both stage 2's and I must say,
Nidoking's previous
forms are better all around than Beedrill's, so we'll give Nidoking a +1 on
his rating and a 0 for Beedrill.
Next, we'll move on to HP: This one's pretty easy...
Nidoking 90,
Beedrill 80, so the score is Nidoking +2, Beedrill 0.
Ah, the first attack. Nidoking first... Thrash: GCC 30
damage plus 10
more if you flip a heads, but if you flip a tails, Nidoking does 10 damage to
itself. Now Beedrill... Twineedle: CCC 30x Flip two coins, this
attack does
30 damage times the number of heads... I'm gonna have to give this one to
Beedrill, since although Nidoking's attack is more dependable, Beedrill's
Twineedle can do more damage and there is no chance of sucking away some of
your own precious HP. Plus, twineedle is cheaper, being only 3 Colorless
while Nidoking is 1 Grass and 2 Colorless. So now the score is Nidoking
+2,
Beedrill +1.
Moving on to the most important aspect of these two pokemon,
the powerful
poison attack. They have the same cost (3 Grass) so that'll make it
easier.
Beedrill's Poison sting does 40 base damage, then you flip a coin, only if
it's heads is the defending pokemon now poisoned. (Which would do 50
damage)
Nidoking's toxic is much more effective, doing only 20 damage but still
automatically poisoning and doing 20 damage instead of just 10. Since
nidoking has a much more reliable attack, and one capable of really wearing
away at your opponent. (And totally pi$$ing them off) So this one goes to
Nidoking. Bringing the score to Nidoking +3, Beedrill +1
Now, the weakness. Beedrill: Fire. Nidoking:
Psychic. Both heavily
used types with Energy Burn & Fossil Magmar decks for fire, and Alaka &
Mime
Stalls as well as Gengar Curse deck's. But, Nidoking has the advantage
since
he can kill a Mime in one frickin' hit, okay! Also, combine Nidoking with
Chansey, lickitung, Kangaskhan, etc., for there resistance to psy and you'll
have nearly indestructible team. There are no pokemon with fire
resistance,
although you could combine beedrill with some water types but I think that's
takes up too much space in your deck. So I'll have to give this one to
Nidoking. Present score: Nidoking +4, Beedrill +1. (Ouch, things aren't
going to well for Beedrill)
Now for two continuous no-brainers:
1) Resistance: Beedrill... Fighting -30 (Oooh! What a resistance)
Nidoking... [none] Hmm... I wonder, could it be Beedrill getting this one
YEP! (Score: Beedrill +2, Nidoking +4)
2) Retreat cost: Beedrill... [free] Nidoking... -CCC. Again, an easy
one,
Beedrill gets this one too.
And... Ta-dah. The final score is...
<Drum roll please!>
Nidoking / Beedrill
Evolutions: +1 /
0
HP: +1 / 0
First attack: 0
/ +1
Poison attack: +1 /
0
Weakness: +1 /
0
Resistance: 0 /
+1
Retreat cost: 0 / +1
Total: +4 / +3
So, our final score is Nidoking +4, Beedrill +3, meaning...
Da, Dah, Da!
Is Beedrill the best... "How about no!" Nidoking is the reining
champion!!!
Mwahahaha!
