Lots of people think that Venomoth is bad or some think that Shift is an okay
Pokemon Power but is too situational but I used him today in a way that I never
though of before. First let's take a look at him in general.
I think that everyone knows that it does so I won't waste my time typing that...
Okay. Venom Powder has potential. It can do a maximum of 60(!) damage (10+10 for
weakness by Shift+10 for posion damage at the end of your turn+20 if the
opponent hits himself+10 more when the posion damages for your opponent's turn).
Although this is very unlikely I've had it happen before.
Shift is what I want to talk about, though. It's a very interesting Pokemon
Power. I like Venomoth and I've used it in 2 unusual ways.
1. While playing Plant/Water my opponent gusted out my energyless Venomoth and
nailed it with a beaten up Magmar(F). 40 damage. No posion. Next turn I attached
a grass energy, Shifted to water and Raindanced a water energy onto Venomoth
(Venomoth became a Water-type so I could do that). I used Venom Powder and the
posion/confusion killed off Magmar.
2. While playing Plant/Psychic (my favorite combo!) against another Psychic deck
I was using Sabrina's Alakazam (Pkmn Power: Psycholink. Pick another Psychic
Pokemon's attack and use it as if it was Alakazam's) to use my psychic-Shifting
Venomoth's Venom Powder on a Mr. Mime. 20 damage due to weakness. The posion
killed it off on the end of his next turn.
While I'm thinking about it Psycholink would also be good while combined with
Base-Set Kadabra (Recover!) but thats another story...
Until next time.
