Pokemon Examination: Misty's
Seadra
Somebody who was
reviewing the Gym 1 Set a long time ago gave Misty's Seadra a 10/10 rating.
So naturally I had to check him out.
Misty's Horsea
Type: Basic Water Pokemon
LV.10 HP 40
W: Tackle: 10
WW: Smokescreen: 20
Effect: If the Defending Pokemon tries to attack during
your
opponent's next turn, your opponent flips a coin.
If tails,
that attack does nothing.
Retreat: N/A
Weakness: L
No. 116 (Common)
Misty's Horsea
Type: Basic Water Pokemon
LV.16 HP 50
WW: Ink Spray: 20
Effect: Flip a coin. If heads, whenever the Defending
Pokemon
attacks, your opponent flips a coin. If tails, that
attack
does nothing. This effect lasts until the Defending
Pokemon
is Benched.
Retreat: N/A
Weakness: L
No. 116 (Common)
Misty's Seadra
Type: Stage 1 Water Pokemon (Evolves from Misty's Horsea)
LV.30 HP 70
W: Tail Whip: 20
WWW: KO Needle: 30+
Effect: Flip 2 coins. If both are heads, this
attack does
60 more damage.
Retreat: C
Weakness: L
No. 117 (Rare Hologram)
Strategy:
Misty's line of
seahorses are much better than their Fossil counterparts. Although the
lvl. 10 version of Horsea is pretty weak and low HP, it is better than the
Fossil version. Lvl. 16 Horsea is a strong Pokemon with 50HP, which as
I had said before is enough to get evolved. Ink Spray can be lethal
and frustrating to your opponent previded you flip heads, because the effect
lasts until the defending Pokemon is benched! The small problems are
Buzz and the fact that it has no 1 Energy attack, which is important for
Basic Pokemon.
Misty's Seadra would
be an awesome Basic Pokemon, and is a good Stage 1. Tail Whip is very
economical, and KO Needle, while unreliable, can get you big damage
sometimes. HP is good and Retreat is low, but Buzz will still kill it.
Strengths:
Lvl. 16 Horsea has a good attack to
keep the enemy from chipping away at it's 50HP, and if the same defending
Pokemon is battling against Seadra (or any of your other Pokemon) he/she
still has to flip a coin every time he/she attacks! Misty's Seadra has
a very economical attack and a 25% of a hard hitting one, and remember even
if your flips fail, you still do 30 damage. Retreat Costs are low or
nonexistant in each of the Pokemon as well.
Weaknesses:
Obvious again: Buzz. Horsea lvl.
10 is not very good either, so stick with Lvl. 16 in the evolution chain.
Conclusion:
Mixed reaction may come to this.
Unlucky players may never use this card, and I can see why. However, I
think that Misty's Seadra can do some heavy damage and you might want to
consider it for a future deck.
Thanks,
