After going to the Pokemon Movie, (and being sorely disappointed with the
English version), I recieved all four of the movie promos. After analyzing
them I had this to say.
Dragonite: Already a worthless card in fossil, but take away 10HP and give
it a worse attack?!?! It's Pokemon power is great, but not for a stage 2
like him.
Electabuzz: A neat card for decks that need anti-water, since his attack is
colorless, but again, the loss of 10HP and a not so great attack make it not
as great a card as the ever present Scyther.
Pikachu: A great improvement for Nintendo's newest mascot, but still not a
really playable card. Becomes to expensive to be discarding three energy a
turn to do 50 damage. Raise the damage to 70, and you'd have a playable
card.
But, Mewtwo, there's a card with great potential. Very similar to Pikachu,
with the major difference that the energy comes from the discard pile, not
the deck, so you are reusing energy, not using it faster. Let's build a
deck around this guy. Here's my example of the Anti-Haymaker Haymaker deck I
built around Mewtwo.
4x Mewtwo (Movie Promo)
4x Hitmonchan
3x Scyther
2x Ponyta
2x Mr. Mime
4x Computer Search
4x Professor Oak
2x Item Finder
2x Super Energy Removal
4x Gust of Wind
4x Plus Power
4x Double Colorless Energy
11x Psychic Energy
10x Fighting Energy
The Goal is a first turn Mewtwo, one energy, then Oak or Search to discard 2
energy and get more stuff you might need, the absorb the energy, and
dominate from there. The rest of the pokemon are backup in case Mewtwo bites
the dust, or there's something he can't handle, like a Mime, or a Chansey.
This deck is fast with four Oaks, and easily accessible with four Searches.
Just watch for difficult Raindance Decks, and decking yourself by using all
four Oaks.
Any response will be replied to, and any improvements would be appreciated.
