Hi pojo! Great site!
I've been playing pokemon for a while now, and I've come up with a way to
find out if attacks are good or bad. Here it is.
A specific type of energy is worth 15 damage.
A colorless type of energy is worth 10.
Abra's psyshock is 1 psychic energy. (15) 10 damage, flip a coin if heads the
defending pokemon is paralyzed. Since there is a 50% chance of getting heads
you add 5 on to the original 10, making it 15, just like its cost. So Abra's
psychock is neutral.
I consider poisoning being like 10 damage. So, beedrill's poison sting is 40
damage with a 50% chance of being poisoned. So that's 5 plus the original 40,
45. That's the same as its cost too. (15+15+15)
With confusing if the defending pokemon is successfully confused it's like 10
damage because you only have a 50% chance of the enemy doing 20 to itself.
Now, I know that if it's tails they don't get to attack to, but that would be
to hard to figure out because there are so many different attacks. Let's take
Drowzee's confuse ray. It's 10 damage flip a coin, if heads the defending
pokmeon is now confused. So, that's 10 plus 5 because you only have a 50%
chance of the enemy being confused, and being confused is worth 10. That's
15, but his attack is 2 psychic, so that's 15 damage, for what should be 30.
Drowzee's confuse ray is bad by 15.
For discarding an energy, you add up the energy as usual, and then take
one-fifth of total and add that on to the original sum of the energy. So
charmander's ember is 30 damage, 1 colorless, 1 fire. (25). Then, you add on
one-fifth of 25, 5, and that makes 30. So Charmander's ember id neutral.
With attacking the bench, I consider the damage 1 and 1 half times of what
the damage does, because you get to choose who you attack. So Hitmonlee's
stretching kick does 20 damage times 1.5, so that's 30 damage, the same as
the energy cost.
Using this method, I've found some good attacks and some bad ones.
First the good.
1. Dewgong's aurora beam. (good by 10)
2. Kadabra's Super Psy. (good by 10)
3. Rapidash's agility. (good by 5)
4. Seaking's waterfall. (good by 5)
5, Tarous's stomp. (good by 5)
Now the bad.
1. Moltres's divebomb. (bad by 20)
2. Vulpix's confuse ray (bad by 15)
3. Drowzee's confuse ray. (bad by 15)
4. Alakazam's confuse ray. (Bad by 10)
5. Krabby's iorngrip. (bad by 5)
I hope this helps.
