Ranking the Team Rocket Set
An Article by Tristan Cox (gcox@mb.sympatico.ca)
Well, I'm here to rank the best cards in the Team Rocket set.
Noe
that this is my opinion, and you may agree, but you may also disagree. I
don't really care. I don't even mind getting hate mail, I think it's fun
to read. Anyhoo, let's get started, shall we?
Top 5 Team Rocket Cards
Number 5
Dark Hypno
Type: Psychic
60 HP (ouch, but all these cards have horrible HP)
Stage 1 (evolves from Drowzee)
P Psycho Punch 20
PPC Control Bench 20x
Your opponent must flip as many coins as they have benched
Pokemon.
Each heads deals 20 damage to the active Pokemon.
Weakness: P
Retreat: CC
Now, Hypno's HP might be nothing to jump around for, but his
control
bench is a great attack that can do a possible 100 damage for 3 energy.
What a card.
Number 4
Dark Charizard
Type: Fire
80HP
Stage 2- Evolves from Charmeleon
C Fingernail Flick 10
RR Continual Fireball 50x
For each Fire Energy attached to
Charizard, flip a coin. Damage
is equal to 50 times the number of heads. Discard the same number of
Fire Energy.
Weakness: W Resistance: F -30
Retreat: CCC
This is one awesome card, but it has it's drawbacks for a
couple of
reasons.
1) Stage 2.
It will take a long while to evolve.
2) 80 HP.
Come on. Wartortle's Bite will send this one
packing.
3) 3 C
retreat. Too high, especially for a flyer.
4) Discarding
all your Fire energy can be bad, considering
it's HP.
All in all though, it's a pretty good card.
Number 3
Scatter! Sticky Gas
Trainer
Until the end of the opponent's next turn, no Pokemon can use it's
Pokemon Powers.
An excellent card that can sort of replace Muk. Plus it's a
common,
while Muk is rare.
Number 2
Team Rocket's Big Sister
Trainer
Look at the opponent's hand. If there are any trainers, choose one of
them and put it back into his or her deck. Shuffle thoroughly.
A sort of Lass card, but you don't have to
show your hand.
And the best Team Rocket Card is.......
<Drumroll>
Magikarp! Just joking. Although Waterfall Evolution is good, the best
card is....
Dark Golduck
Type: Water
60HP
Stage 1- Evolves from Psyduck
P The Third Eye
Discard one card from your hand in order to draw 3.
PPC Super Mind Power (or Super Psy)
50
Well, we have one great card here. It's an uncommon, so it
won't be
difficult to get. He first attack is EXTREMELY broken, but is good until
Wizards catches how it's dominating the card advantage scene (sort of
like Vileplume. 120 damage for GGG on 3 heads). It's second attack can
really wallop the opponent, and it doesn't have that Psychic weakness
other Psychics do. He's Kadabra turned Water type!
Well, Dark Blastoise is constipuous(sp?) by his absence, but
he's
off for a reason. He's really useful in a big water deck, but in a
multi-color deck he's useless. Plus, he really needs Raindance, and with
the Squirtle only having one name, you can have 8 different Wartortles,
and 8 different Blastoises, but only 4 Squirtles. Rain Dance is hampered
with 2 or less Blastoise, and with one single Dark Blastoise, it's going
to be hard to get him out.
Well, my email addy is at the top, so any comments you have
should
be sent there.
