Okay, C-Man here with one of my articles. Today I'm looking into why some decks
work and some don't
1.Energy
I'm still seeing this, decks with NO energy. How on gods green earth are you
supposed to play with no enegies? An exception is stall decks with no enegy. I'm
also seeing if a deck has energy, it doesn't have enough. I played this kid
once. He had 12 or so energies. His hand was a few pokemon and a bunch of
trainers. I could tell because he never played any energy. After I brutally
slaughtered him he checked his prizes. Sure enough about half of his energy. The
rest was all practically at the bottom of the deck. He then said,"No wonder
I didn't get energy." Well no sh--. You only have 12 or so energies. I know
some decks only have a few, but that's because they revolve around pokemon who
don't need alot of energies (hitmonchan) or have pokemon with attacks to get
energy (MP Mewtwo).
(Note: this kid had charizards and such.)
2. Stratedgys:
Some decks don't work because they don't have a stratedgy. Here are some decks
with stratedgys:
Haymaker: Hit hard and fast.
Turbo Raindance: Get Blastoise out second turn
Heavy Duty Raindance: Stall and they get really beefy guys.(note: This
Raindance is different because it has cards like Chansey to stall with till you
can get Poliwrath, Gyarados, and Blastoise. It doesn't foucuse on the early
game. It sometimes does though.)
Turbo Wiggly: Get Wiggly out turn two and do the wave
Stall Decks: Get Alakazams, Chanseys, PokeCenters, and Potions, mix'em together
and you have a stall deck. (note:some have more stratedgy, but I have seen
some like this)
Venucenter: When your pokes are damages swap energies with Venusaur to non
damaged pokemon and poke center then move energies back.
See, if your deck doesn't have a stratedgy it will fall apart. If you have a
Psychic deck and you put in some water guys there is no point. Or if you have a
deck with your favorite pokemon and the wrong energy I will fall apart. Even if
it means creating your own deck or using someone else's ideas and mold them into
something new. Just use stratedgy.
3. Pokemon:
You knew we would be getting to this. I have seen alot of decks using the wrong
types of pokemon. You also want to pick the types carefully. If you use a
Haymaker, use the right types. Don't put in Blastoises in a Haymaker. It won't
work. You also got to know what not to choose. Base Ghastly? Burn it. Well
that's not alot on the pokemon part, but I trust most of you actually know what
you're doing
4. Point System:
Yes, the point system actually has an effect on a deck. Players trying to decide
on which one of two pokemon to use in their decks they will use the point
system. According to one article I read Cloyster did better than Alakazam! Whoa,
I think I'm goin' to have a heart attack. People, please the point system
doesn't work. It always fails and it can even be embarrasing.
Well, that's all for now
