Hi Pojo! I am a little late
getting my third "How to Beat the Archetypes" guide up, but here I
am with this week's deck, the notorious Stall Deck! Please note that I don't
mean to explain things you already know, but to explain to you things that
you've never thought about in the archetypes. These notes will add to your
knowledge, and hopefully improve your chances in working the Metagame. Now, on
with the Stall Deck!
A basic Stall Deck consists of
these 3 Pokemon: Chansey, Alakazam, and Mr.Mime. All others are simply added
according to the Metagame, except that sometimes you may want to remove them
because of the use of Hitmonchan in your area. Others you may want to
add are the base Mewtwo (Barrier), Scyther (Fighting resistance), or even
Lickitung (I won't get into him right now, I'd just go on and on and on...
Read my single card tips article). The idea of Chansey is to move all the
damage to him with Alakazam, then Scoop Up all 11 damage counters! Mr.Mime
takes care of big hitters. Trainers are THE KEY to this deck. Use wisely.
Hence the name "Stall," the purpose is to stall unil your opponent
runs right through his draw pile. Other essential cards may include Imposter
Proffesor Oak, Pokemon Center, or possibly Gambler. Other variations include
Gengar, who weakens the opponent's main Pokemon, no matter where it is. He can
be aided with many fighting-weak Pokemon, because he himself has the
resistance. The Wildfire Deck is also a staller, but I will put that in
another article, as I believe it is not a pure stall deck, but what I like to
call an Agressive Stall, where it is a stall hybrid. Another is the No-Energy
Stall Deck, also a stall hybrid, but not as much so.
How to play/make one: It's very
simple, just follow my guidelines above and you should be fine. Whatever you
do, DON'T PUT IN CARD DRAWING. This entirely defeats the purpose of stalling.
And now, how to beat it. It's
very simple, build a very fast deck that also put cards back in while taking
cards out. Add small Pokemon for Mr.Mime, and put in AT LEAST ONE Lass. This
will shuffle cards to their deck, but will also get rid of those pesky Scoops.
Muk works well to, as he shuts down all vital Pokemon Powers.
Thankx fer readin'!
