Hi, it's Mr. Sleepy Dragon back.

This time around, I'm thinking of sharing the whole WORLD of retreat costs.  Most people don't really think about retreat costs when choosing their pokemon, but it really IS essential, especially in a Haymaker.  Until the Rocket Muk ( I think ) comes out, where he increases Retreat costs by 2, people following these lessons will do very well.

Great Tourney-worthy Pokemon with 0 retreat

-Scyther ( the most obvious )
-Fossil Gastly
-Beedrill
-Persian ( before you send hatemail, try him )
-Dodrio ( read the rest of the article )
-Rapidash
-Fossil Haunter
-Pidgeot
-Fearow
-Venomoth
-Golbat ( *shrug*  it's worth a try )

These Pokemon are many of the good choices you can use to manipulate your opponent in a tournament, free retreat is one of the best advantages you can probably have, until Evil Muk comes out, and increases all retreat costs by 2.  Dodrio is a good addition to decks also, one of the family lines where you can never have enough.  Dodrio is one of the few pokemon I'd advise going 3-3 or 4-4 on.  You can never have enough retreat aid... the lower your retreat, the better chance you have of denying your opponent a prize through weakness.  When you look at the pokemon I've listed, and I'm sure I haven't listed ALL of the pokemon you might consider great, but these are my favorites, sorry if I forgot any popular BBP's.  But when you look at the choices, you realize theres a free retreat group for every color, except for Lightning, Fighting, and Water.  But think about it, if you're using water, its either Energy Denial, or 'Rain Dance,' where you don't need much retreating stuff, since there is no blue pokemon with free retreat, except for Goldeen, I believe... And for Lightning, stick with Scyther and the Colorless pokemon.  In fighting, you have relatively low retreat costs anyway, except for Hitmonchan, which is a good counterpart for Scoop Up.  Low retreat is always something to desire, which is one of the components that run the engine of the 'Speedrill' "archetype," but I don't consider it seen enough to be a Archetype.  If you implement this, you might find yourself winning a lot...Try it!
